Yes but then we get back to cultural meanings. If he didn;t mean to offend then that should be factored in etc etc.

Anyway getting away from that cos its old ground, the FA gave Suarez an 8 game ban because of the number of times they thought he probably said negro.

(By the way Luis prounounces it nehgro, no neegro)

They say that themselves.

If they had believed he said it once it would have been significantly less.

Just worth adding in there that Luis has admitted calling Yaya Toure Negro (Nehgro) last season as well, but Toure didn't tell the FA he had been racially abused because he played in Spain, and is most probably aware himself of cultural differences in language.

In fact he probably didn't no he should feel racially abused!

He must need us in England to tell him that that Spanish word for Black is racist!

Actually Negro isn't racist at all, in any language. It is Spanish for Black.

But if Suarez has said he kicked Evra cos he's black then that is Racist because of how he is using it, but he denies doing any of that stuff.

I disagree, calling anyone a name based on the colour of their skin is racist in my opinion, and I think that is the commonly taken viewpoint in this country. And as has been said before, the only thing that matters is rules in THIS country. Standards in his home country are irrelevant.

My only point against it was that I think racism is pathetic.

Harsh/blunt but thats how I see it.

Suarez was by definition racist, and Liverpool claiming he is unaware, the rules are the same in any league he has played in, you cant be racist on the pitch.

So it doesnt matter about his nationality because he hasnt played in his country for years, previously in Holland and now in England, he plays for the national team which surely he must know in a world cup, if he did that he would still get done for it. Maybe a more severe punishment if it had of been in the world cup.

So he knows that he cant do it, its an excuse. If Suarez wasn't banned then Liverpool would need to be punished anyway. For failure to tell Suarez we are in England ha.

But yeah, I dont think he should be banned but thats because I think racism is an excuse and made to be a bigger issue than it is.

I know fully well that if I was black and still in school, I would see cases like the Suarez/Terry thing, I would use it to my advantage. I would get people I disliked punished in school, I would get my mates in trouble for banter, by using the race card.

I no full well that other people are doing it so what message is this sending to the younger generation?

It is a good soundbite you keep using there Adam about standards in his country being irrelevant.

Could you then explain the reasoning behind the FA employing numerous linguistic experts on this case?

Of course it matters, and it did matter, the linguistic experts (from Manchester University - hahaha no conflict of interest there then!) decided (quite rightly to be honest) that saying I kicked you because your black was quite racist.

Funny however that despite "probably" saying these things - (despite ANY video, audio and eye witness evidence remember) the FA concluded that Luis Suarez was not racist, merely used racist terms.

Now I think he is a racist if had used that word in the terms they say he "probably" has.

The problem is that they dare not call him a racist based on such poor evidence, because then Luis would take them to court.

This is what people are not understanding because they haven't bothered to read the report (it was long, boring and poorly written so I don't blame you) but there was no video evidence, no audio evidence and not one single player heard Suarez use the word negro once.

The whole punishment came down to Evras version of events coming across (to a 3 man panel) as more believable than that of Luis Suarez. Now that isn't me being bias. That is completely factual.

A 115 page report which could have just read, we think Luis Suarez is lying, therefore Evra told the truth, he therefore receives an 8 game ban.

Liverpool themselves could end up in trouble anyway. Having seen that statement from them then they could be in trouble for libel if the FA chose to pursue it.

It will only get worse, punishment only get greater... but if we somehow thought... does being called 'racist' words really hurt? Lets face it no. It really doesnt. Its like any other abusive word.

These players are swearing and being aggressive. How can Suarez get an 8 match ban, for calmly being 'racist' and you get people headbutting, spitting, pushing, slapping and generally being aggressive get less?

When surely being nutted is going to be more scarring than calmly being called a "negrito".

Its the most pathetic thing I have ever come accross, racism.

I wrote a lyric from a song up on my facebook page a while back, I got 9 messages from people I didn't know saying I should remove that song because it had a similar word to what Suarez said...

It was a quote from a song?

Interested me that each of these 9 people were white.

And yet 8 of the 15 people (over half) that liked the message were black and it used a term that would offend their race?

If I was black, I would be offended that 9 white people are trying to defend me, trying to protect me? As if I need them to because I would be a defensley poor little black man? Ridiculos. White people who think they arent racist but act like that, are the actual racists.

True story

As Kenny Dalglish said. The club released a statement.

I'll be willing to bet the FA do not want to take up a war with Liverpool.

Kenny said yesterday that he wanted to say more about the case, but didn't want to get into trouble.

My bet is that the FA do not want to force his hand into saying what is on his mind.

That's a good point Derry. I was in a similar situation at school, which being in the middle of Manchester was a very mixed, multi-faith school. In my form, there were 2 black girls who called each other by names similar to the word Suarez used, which to me shows that it wasn't offensive at all. Interestingly, a white kid in my class called one of them by the same word and they referred him for being racist. I wasn't sure which side to take to be honest, did he say something that he shouldn't, or did they have double standards? I can't remember what the outcome was lol.

As Kenny Dalglish said. The club released a statement.

Doesn't matter what you call it, any written/printed document that is released to the public can be used in a case for libel to the best of my knowledge.

Yes and you can be sued for libel for something said in a statement. Suggesting that the FA has an agenda against the club is certainly libelous.

In other news, we await Joey Barton's case of sueing the Fa for his red card, for which his appeal was dismissed earlier today.

No you still misunderstand. Statement has many different meanings.

When Liverpool released their statement... they issued a statement to the FA.

That is basically what Kenny said yesterday.

There is nothing in our statement which the FA could use to sue Liverpool with anyway, do you not think our team of lawyers haven't proof read the thing about a 100 times before it was released?

They wouldn't dare anyway, Kenny said he wanted to tell the journos a lot more about the case yesterday, but wasn't allowed to.

I think Kenny is using that information to make sure the FA leave us alone.

Wow... What a first half. 1-0 to Newcastle and we're completely dominating the game.... Man Utd are all over the place!!

If we keep this up, I have a feeling a few more goals are coming, along with a nice clean sheet!

Should of had a pen as well so it should be 2-0!

Outstanding performance from us though. Every single player has been superb. Demba Ba... What a machine!!!
