mm, I would say that the arm is in an unnatural position when it's above his head. If he puts his hands by his side, it's not a problem. But he makes himself a bigger obstacle by putting his arm above his head.

Its the most natural position.

One you are defending/protecting your face (and turning away from the ball) and two, gravity and force will bring your body down leaving your arms up.

The most unatural position of a defender is arms by their sides when tackling. Because you cant run or lunge properly.

I mean I have seen Terry goalkeepers save a shot, thats unatural because his arms are stretched and pointed whilst joined together. Richards had 1 higher than the other, and that wa sonly because he used one of his arms to defend his face, which was the one it hit.
