to be fair tapping bores the hell out of me so i dont do it but it does lose me loads of ranking games

if im playing a tapper and he lands on the reds i always come off the cushion to hit reds never straight back at reds unless i get bored then SMASH

I think it bores the hell out of most people, thats why i don't sit there tapping with them i just smash em and get on with the game, but it seems the people who really get wound up about it do sit there tapping, why if it winds you up that much?

It makes me glad I don't take the game too seriously. Id rather saw my leg off than spend time tip tapping.

but like i said i dont tap and normally when i smash i dont get the rub of the green and leave everything on... lost a barrel load of points this way

It's common sense really..

If someone rolls into the pack, It takes 2 people to keep the tapping going, he/she can't keep the tapping going on there own unless they are on the practice table.

if they get enjoyment tho out of moving there mouse a millimetre and sitting there for an easy shot thats there choice

Tapping - Is mostly used to get into your opponents head which in turn makes them smash and you have a 50% chance they dont pot a red but leave you on a red to try and get a big break. I dont moan about tapping mostly for the fact that in tournaments i will sometimes tap off the break, but if an opponant does it to me then i will continue to tap and play them at there own game. No one gets inside my head NOONE! except the misses

Every thread turns into a debate about tapping. Yes, naming and shaming is needed not for tapping but just so you can let everyone know if someone is being an idiot.

It's more about boring someone to death than getting in there head in my opinion. I become bored the second someone rolls into the pack, but i never complain about it cause i have no problem with people doing it.

You sound like you take the game a bit to seriously and will do whatever it takes to try and win the game, rather than playing for fun and enjoying it.

I agree with virt, naming and shaming should be allowed but not for the reasons people keep complaining about, which are clearly not against the rules.

The fact is if we named and shamed for tapping then naming and shaming would become irrelevant as everyone would have been named and shamed as we have all done it at some point.

So it should only be reserved for certain situations.

I find it annoying when an opponent tries to instigate tapping. Trouble is, as much as I hate it, sometimes I take part in it; matters of points I think, especially recently where its been '1 step forward 2 steps back' in my ranking. I don't begin an exchange of tapping; usually I try to play a conventional baulk line safety on Arcade. It is difficult on Arcade and chances are I leave a long pot. At least a bit more "skill" is involved! I also think its a sorry state for funkysnooker when players ranked high adept - professional engage in it.

for me its more of a mental challenge as i expect tapping and safties in Reg/Orig but not the other types so when people tap breaked in arcade it used to annoy me a lot, way i would think is if they tap keep it tight don't smash as i wouldn't want to give them the satisfaction of clearing then next frame i would play them at their own game.

for two to tap that is true but its also true that it can take 1 tap from break to engage this battle, don't get me wrong, i don't mind tapping in general its just from the break where it has a good pot %.

i used to take rank very seriously until 2009 where i reset for first time, since then ive played for fun and being under ranked.

for naming and shaming i agree with alex, it should only really happen if you do something so bad that your stats get reset or you get banned but usually they are scarred as people usually find out quickly who they was so in principle no point

I don't take the game seriously but if i join a game then i am going to do anything i need to win the game, i dont join games to lose them =/

Anybody who taps of break should be banned! It's pointless!

I agree if your in a game make a mistake etc tap up happy days I don't even mind if you tap and it goes for a foul just tapping of break gets to me I don't see why anybody would not want the chance to break and clear up of break. (This mainly applies in Arcade obviously)

And the problem with Naming and shaming is it's your word vs mine, You tell the world I play really bad PM you in game etc i'm just going say the same, also to add if you could specifically point out a person then you could lie as your annoyed and want to be the sore loser etc

And then as fuunky said some people do tend to take this game to serious end of day it's not life or death that's why I always smile when somrebody miss's I clear up they call me lucky for them playing bad and I get loads of abuse as i'm thinking anybody can be 'hard' over the internet and it's just childish + pathetic when some people result to this.

I just played someone, who no matter where i hit the ball, he rolled back into the pack, to the point where it got boring . 20 minutes later I decided to smash the balls and he got a break of 45. Towards the end of the game he got aggressive hurling personal insults. I ignored him, flagged and challenged him again on the chance i might win. He did the same again but missed and I cleared up. 88-0.
