Cup idea?
Group of 5.... all play eachother once

1st place advances to Cup Final
2nd vs 3rd.... Winner to Cup Final. Loser to Plate Final
4th vs 5th. Winner to Plate Final

Should be fairly easy to do on Spreadsheet too, could hide the group stuff for the future and just copy Fixture Page and Schedule and edit.

Funkysnooker is in great decline, we all know that......its not secret. The Clan League is due to start soon.... but, is it going to be worth it because of the activity of players?

The current activity of players in the league currently are...

Offline since 1 day ago .....5 Players
Offline since 2 day ago .....7 Players
Offline since 3 day ago .....5 Players
Offline since 4 -9 days .....6 Players
Offline 10+ days ...............2 Players

Combined inactivity per team
Snooker Legends 11 days offline
Curse on Demand 15 days offline
Nocturnal Assassins 18 days offline
Dollars & Cents 19 days offline
Funkysnooker Devils 29 days offline

Sure you could argue 'well that player has been offline 1 day but they are active'.... that may be true.... but thats not going to be the case for every player... and if that player comes up against one of the other inactive... and subs are inactive.... it makes the number of defaults per set look bleak

Pre season there are 35 games to be played. After 10 days 17 remain including Killer. And all bar 1 or 2, contain one of the above inactive players

And sure you could argue, ah it will be fine, wait till deadline day and all teams will qualify..... but the point is, its a constant battle to get games played and organised with inactive players... of which there are many

Just counting the above inactive... thats 25 players... in a League with 50 players. Thats half

I agree with you Robin from what ive seen so far this league is gonna be the same if not worse than last season.but what do we do ?

True doesn't look good, however D&C has done well this set but nearly all our guys had to play two games to make ends meet.

We can't do much except work with what we have, true about relaxing to deadline (or 75% of the fixture) but will be case no matter the deadline unless its one day

Sure guys don't want the league to fold and neither do i as i put a lot of effort into these spreadsheets. Long as games are played then i don't mind about the numbers although it is worrying signs

Well it's a little late. If people have inactive players then that's on the captain really. The players in my clan who are inactive at the moment I purposely left out of the friendlies as I'm aware of why they aren't active and when they will become active again. I don't see any different from last season, we had 2 extra clans but the activity of them was 10 x worse than it is here, so there isn't any loss. If somebody had doubts about the activity of their clan then it should have been expressed before the pre season friendlies, like when we were entering our teamlists. The majority of us want a season regardless of how tough it might be.

I think we shouldn't do 2 fixtures in the one i.e. My clan Nocturnal Assassins having to play C.O.D. & F.S.D by the same deadline, for example. That means if games from both fixtures are left to the last minute, we're left having to (probably) arrange 2 killer games at the same time, subbing players left right and centre for other games, and players end up having to fill in for others and play 2 games on deadline day. With the clan sizes at the moment, if we made it only 1 fixture at a time, it would mean 4 players would be left out, and each player would only have one game to arrange. Back in the past this would probably be deemed as rubbish because everyone was keen and wanted to play as much as possible, but at this current time I'd be surprised if many people had a problem with this as there's so many people going offline for 3+ days, and for the ones who are active, there will be a greater chance they will be paired up to play another active player. Also, when there's a volume of games to be arranged for people, it is easy to become overwhelmed, maybe lose interest and just give up as a means of escape. I've felt like this at one stage so I imagine others have.

A final suggestion would be: a serious message should be sent to every clan member asking, do you still want to do this? Put a deadline on that and that will bring the likes of 7+ days offline players back in a hurry. Or it wont, therefore they can be removed from the league until further notice.

Perfect example is Woody thanking 4 or 5 players for playing twice. 5-6 really active players per team really. I reakon give teams the option to play a couple of players twice or even three times to make sure all games get done. No defaults and all opponents get their games played within 2 weeks. If a sub like that is used by a team to get a match finished then the game starts 3-0 to opposing team who's player could play.Maybe these subs can only be used in the last 3 days if it looks likely games wont get done. It just guarantees teams aint folding. These teams aint gonna win much but at least talentless players like me still get to take part in the league.

Simple, we will run the cup like this for this season.

There are fewer teams this season, meaning there will be fewer league games. However, with the cup format above, we should be able to recover some of that.
Each team will have at least 5 games in the Cup and 8 games in the league.

Right, we will do the schedule in the coming days. We also have some background crap to do to get the tables working again with the updated format.

Do you guys prefer a mid-week start or should we give it until the coming Sunday?

the background crap should be no issues, on fixture four now out of seven and Cup Table already done.

then just need to add the new format to the golden cue which will be slightly harder but not much

either works for me as incoming weeks, i will have less games on the dark side

I think Funkysnooker Devils need help. Bethany and Bucky have done a brilliant job over the past couple of seasons, but unfortunately they are only able to sign players whom are, lets say, new and a risk... in terms of players join with excitement and then disappear quickly.

Whereas the other 4 teams have a solid base of 4,5,6 reliable players... FSD always have a battle with players and them remaining reliable and active.

So how about some of you help them out and offer your services to them?

As for the 'i wanna be in a team that win things' ... well youve probably already won things.... so give Devils a helping hand
