No disrespect to player i mention.

Players now, for example, Stormforce, Whirlwind, Sean, Tornado, Scotti.. There all top of the rankings YES!

However they all tap break, they dont oftently hit maxes and cents, because of that.

Players like Lyle, Jez, Ste, Ragefire, all made tons of maxes by smashing and having them set like a easy pie for dinner!

Were now in a tactical era of the game i believe.

You don't know the technique for the smash break? Blimey. i thought everyone who'd played for a decent length of time knew that!

I think players are more rank obsessed now than they were even when I started. Now players want to be top of the rankings, but the impression I got when I started was that players wanted cents and maxes. I guess priorities have changed.

On 0-6's point above, I don't think it's any easier to get a 107 from a smash break, you are reliant on reds not blocking pockets, the black not running safe etc etc. If anything making one from a couple of loose reds is easier. Certainly is the case in orig for getting 147s.

yup people are more rank obsessed and people tap break more now, what is to blame? i say ranked tournaments, back in the day all tournaments was friendly, so you went for breaks and you could have a laugh.

now its ranked tournaments and to be rank consistent you need to enter tournaments frequently, i used to enter tournaments a lot especially orig but since tournaments have been ranked i would say thats lowered my tournament entries by over 2 thirds.

i would still pick breaks over rank any day.

regarding the thread, nice work ste, you hit a few of those on me im sure.

adam is right, its about being consistent over a long period of time for example in carom i have 57% after 100 shots, but i want 50% after 500 turns. the more % by a large number of turns is more impressive.

I stopped playing ranked a long time ago for this reason, ive got better things to do than Tip Tap for 20 mins...Its not fun! Your points come and go , i'd much rather have a good break or watch my opponent make one than the points. I still smash the pack regardless of who im playing

This thread needs to be capped. Ste is an awful player and doesn't deserve this much recognition.

Third ball, full on, max power. Not always guaranteed a pot but it does work.

i hit 1-2 107s maybe everyday since about 2 week ago thats why hey have gone up so fast

Yes but one of the reasons why i dont enter tournaments anymore, is because i cant be asked to play 900+ that tap break.
