I think the best team in the premiership wins the premiership. United didn't drop stupid points mid season. We did. They deserve it, we started our push to late.

The thing with it is is that it's not a Shearer failure, it's a Newcastle United Football Club failure, we were already in a hell of a state before he came, and if Alan Shearer can't install some passion into our team (And of course, get our strikers scoring), both of which Shearer is probably the best man for, then there really is very little hope.

He was very wise in the way that he took the job, knowing that he couldn't lose. He keeps us up he gets even bigger a legend status than he already has, we go down then it's down to the state we were in when he got here, which, in fairness, it is.

And Ste, I suppose not, only final I might have a hope of going to in the years to come will be the play-offs, and I'd be surprised if we got to that!

I agree and disagree.

1) I think a real... ok an experienced manager could have kept you up, or done a better job, not at installing passion maybe, but actually a bit of tactical nouse, Shearer just seems to change his tactics mid game about 3-4 times. Overall am still sceptical that its nothing more than a PR stunt to save Ashley from criticism.

2) Agree that he took the job knowing full well he had nothing to loose. But then again he did that his whole career......

3) Finally, disagree, I think the Johnstone paint trophy is also a very real possibility.

I know what you mean, but you saw the position the same players had got us in over 30 games, they know what they're doing, and if you look at our players on paper, they just shouldn't be down there in the first place, and that does come down to the lack of passion.

Newcastle at times were class tonight but in all fairness to boro so were they, overall a draw would have been credible for both before the last 20 when newcastle really upped their game! Fair play to them! Although I still want them to go down.
