Hmm, the last uproar ws because 107's were too easy...
Checks and balances (as the great Gene Hunt would say)
Seriously though, you have to look long term. It may be tricky now, but how will the experinced players feel the current system is 2-5 years from now?
If we change nothing, will 25+ 107's per day be common in 2014?

I'd be willing to bet that the spin will be modified between now and 5 years time though

The difficulty hasn't changed at all for new users from what I can tell and in fact arcade is still easily the most popular game, with no drop in users playing it.
I can't see any problem except a few experienced members finding the adjustment difficult and/or using the regular table instead.
This might mean a temporary drop in standards but there's a whole group of eager new members waiting to take up the crown, and when they do the Steve Davis's will find it a long (even impossible) journey to reclaim it.

Tbh its not that much different, look at destiny for example, 2 days ago he hit 4 max's on arcade in 1 day. So it can still easily be done.

I'm not picking out anything in particular at you, Mike (Virtuoso107), but just noticed this on your profile and thought it fit in pretty well, especially considering you're one of the people saying that the change is bad
Virtuoso107's profile said:
“It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change.”

I'm going to agree with ste on this, personally the title arcade has never been a realistic representation of any game type under the title. Arcade tennis, football, golf just to name a few all had their own crazy tweaks.
However it's fully understandable nick wants the best and most realistic site on the web to the highest extent it could be but in most games have their fun tweaks to them and having the old spin back onto arcade only would be funkysnookers edition to the arcade type of gaming.
Now the against argument is going to be most people have adjusted why can't you? I'm sure I could adjust as could ste but the point of this thread is the fun which was once paramount on arcade has quietened so to speak, adding the old spin would boost the fun in arcade.

Well I'm guessing that when Ste said that arcade had become the worst of itself, original & regular due to the change that comes under the change being bad.
In which case, when you say "I'm going to agree with Ste on this", surely that's saying it's bad?

So this means there is no change at all?
Can you explain why you changed you're mind :S?
It's really pathetic the spin on arcade mate (no offense) it just doesn't suit the table as it's too small! If you're going to keep it then have regular as the actual table as soon as guests or new users sign up because if they see that arcade spin they won't come back!

Read all my posts mate, sure you will find what "my" problem is.

im complaining and ive bin playin arcade since it was released. As ive said before and completely agree with ste. The new spin physics make it impossible to play slow delicate spin shots. It jus doesnt suit the size of the table at all.
Granted, you now have to hit the ball harder to get more spin, but still. Theres only a cetain amount of power you can use before you run out of position on a table as small as the arcade one.
It just doesnt suit the arcade game at all.

Good decision to keep it as it is Nick - the games never been more competitive and in a way, older players are having to relearn how to play the game.
Ste - stop complaining and campaigning for change when the majority have accepted the change and are beginning to adapt, its starting to get boring IMO.

Well, this is one long term user who will be playing a lot more arcade now!
Clearly it's down to personal preference. I always found arcade so awkward to play "seriously" I just didnt bother, but the new setup gives much more control and a "natural" feel to the game.
If anything, the fact new names are winning tourneys etc is testament to the fact that something must be right

I agreed with the fact the I didn't think the spin was right for arcade, thank you. So please don't make me look hypocritical.
