This has ruined FunkySnooker for me! Please give us the option for old layout!

like the layout,a few problems though,angles seem off and having to install java makes the game very jerky.

New update wooot!
- Blue spot on the "where to hit the ball" is way better now
- I can play the ball slower now :)
- The balls run smoother
- The new style is more funky! :)

OMG a new update -.-
- Very accurate shots are slightly different (tho that may be in my mind )
- Timer isn't clear enough to me (tho i should get used to it)
- The "request to play again"-arrow, the start/stop button and the white flag are way too small imo
- I must reset every time i log in the sound and chatbox options, that may be easy to solve i think

This is actually a real problem unfortunately - have just had the same happen in a real game. Here is the screen shot:



Oh, and by the way, earlier in the game, the Green was repspotted on the Black spot even though there was sufficient room for it to be respotted on its own spot - the Pink was close to the Green spot but there was about 3/4 of a ball extra clearance. You will have to take my word for it unfortunately because I didn't have the foresight to take a screen shot at the time sorry.

Also, because I didn't take the screen shot above straight away, the fact that it shows that the last ball hit is the Green, is unconnected with the problem (there had been an intervening shot before I remembered to take the screen shot) - thought I'd best mention that so you don't follow a false lead (like thinking the two have inadvertently been switched)

This new update has really changed the gameplay, for the worse IMO.

The angles are now completely different especially cutting balls into pockets and playing them down the cushion.

I really think you should have a look at it Nick because its not as if it is more realistic now than it was before. The angle needed to cut the black in from the spot or play balls down the cushion are nothing like you would need to pot the ball in reality, whereas before it was pretty close.

I'm all for making the game a challenge but I don't think this change makes any sense at all.

why call it arcade snooker and then try to make it realistic. if you want a tougher challange regular snooker is your option. a sad day for funkysnooker..... someone has taken the fun out of it. imo.

Yes, you can, and there's please no need to be sarcastic. If you have a problem stick your Java version up and I'll look into it.



To tinotoon and others: if there's a problem, please detail your screen resolution, which game, and which cursor you are using, and the position of the cue ball and the target ball. The game works exactly the same for every shot so this is very easy to look into.

I'd advise people to learn the new cursor.

So leave the game then. You don't want to be constructive or contribute in any way, so why should I be concerned by your problems?

Hi, can you detail exactly what happened to you?

I've not deliberately altered any in-game logic, the only change was for the practice table. The other reports where that the colours weren't shown until after being respotted.

Nick, did you change anything on pool after the update as people complained of the angle issue over there then a couple of days later i heard quite a few people were fine.

Because if you didn't, then i think this is more psychological than anything, and we just think that it has changed when actually it hasn't.

Give it a week or 2 and im quite sure people will be used to it again (me inculded)

This most definitely isn't psychological. I've been playing the game for quite some time now and am used to the angles in most positions. I'm noticing that the most basic, almost straight shots, are no longer following the same trajectory they used to.

Arcade is the problem for me, not played any of the others so not too sure.

I was using the old cursor and thought it might be that so went on to use the new ghost ball but i'm experiencing exactly the same problem.

My screen resolution is 1280 by 800.

I can't specify exactly where the cue and object balls were because it has happened numerous times but I have noticed it more often when cutting a ball back into a pocket or playing a ball down the cushion.

It might seem like I'm moaning for nothing but the game today is completely different to what it was on Friday night. Unless that was your intention Nick I think this problem needs to be looked into.

Yes, the changes were to completely restore the original cursor and introduce a high clarity default cursor. These are both already in funkysnooker.

I do not believe the physics are incorrect - it's very simple to test, try potting balls along the cushions like so:


This pretty much takes any human judgement error out the equation.

The only change is higher quality of anti-aliasing on the balls.

Firstly I like the new layout
I have a couple of observations/queries

It is taking me a long time to get into the game (java “wheel” just turning)
My details are
Java version 1.6.0_12
Operating system Vista. Can anyone help?

Would prefer it if the people who are playing section ( g_k v Guest106) was centred over the middle pocket just think it would look better(I think it used to be)
Also in game the “what ball next” when it’s any colour doesn’t appear very clearly (resolution used 1366x768)

Is the table playing faster now?

On the whole I think it looks a much more professional front end and is quite user friendly



I was hoping the update was going to make me a good player......ah well I'll have to wait for the next one

1. Is the image shown showing that when you play the shot you will hit the object ball and cusion at the same time with the cue ball, thus potting the object ball?

2. What's anti-aliasing? :S

I personally don't like how fast the balls move, you hit a ball with medium power and the white just rolls and rolls...

Also i a little thing, "quick match" should look as if it can be clicked... maybe a rectangle around it.

Whenever I click on game rooms to join a game I am told that there are no games available. It is the same for any game type and ranked, tourny or friendly. This means I can only get playing after creating a game and waiting like a plum til someone joins.....Any ideas?

Well using the old cursor in regular and carom has made no difference to me personally, so i can not see why something has changed to the other games and not regular and original.

A snooker cue is needed in my opinion, instead of the pool one we have.

Also, after potting a red and looking at the top, where it shows next ball to hit, the only colour that is clear is black. I'm sure that all seven colours are supposed to be clear, right?
