I assure you Damee the gameplay on arcade has changed significantly. Can you see any benefit to me in making this up?

This most definitely isn't psychological. I've been playing the game for quite some time now and am used to the angles in most positions. I'm noticing that the most basic, almost straight shots, are no longer following the same trajectory they used to.

Nick

Arcade is the problem for me, not played any of the others so not too sure.

I was using the old cursor and thought it might be that so went on to use the new ghost ball but i'm experiencing exactly the same problem.

My screen resolution is 1280 by 800.

I can't specify exactly where the cue and object balls were because it has happened numerous times but I have noticed it more often when cutting a ball back into a pocket or playing a ball down the cushion.

It might seem like I'm moaning for nothing but the game today is completely different to what it was on Friday night. Unless that was your intention Nick I think this problem needs to be looked into.

I just had a long play on that resolution with cuts and couldn't find any shot with incorrect physics.

This is to all, it seems the anti-aliasing code has caused slight changes noticeable on low and medium resolutions. The rendering of the ball is more accurate. I'm sorry that it's affected the angles from before but I'm not going to restore the poorer rendering just because we have learnt some foibles / peculiarities from the previous version. I consider any peculiarities where you have to aim "off" to pot it as very serious bugs, and if that happened at some resolutions before I'm glad it's been resolved.

It is taking me a long time to get into the game (java “wheel” just turning)
My details are
Java version 1.6.0_12
Operating system Vista. Can anyone help?

You might want to try clearing your Java cache (Control Panel, Java, Temporary Internet Files, Settings, Delete Files..., check everything and click OK). Failing that you could try a complete Java reinstall. Please let me know if either of these options help.

Also in game the “what ball next” when it’s any colour doesn’t appear very clearly (resolution used 1366x768)

Is the table playing faster now?

ste_efc said:
I personally don't like how fast the balls move, you hit a ball with medium power and the white just rolls and rolls...

The underlying ball speed hasn't changed - what has happened is that the rendering is quicker, meaning that it should run better on slower machines. Only those who's PC struggled to run before would notice (and that's not a dig at people's machines, the old animation had some inefficient code).

Whenever I click on game rooms to join a game I am told that there are no games available. It is the same for any game type and ranked, tourny or friendly. This means I can only get playing after creating a game and waiting like a plum til someone joins.....Any ideas?

I've not heard of this one before, what is your Java version? http://www.funkysnooker.com/help/playing_problems

A snooker cue is needed in my opinion, instead of the pool one we have.

Also, after potting a red and looking at the top, where it shows next ball to hit, the only colour that is clear is black. I'm sure that all seven colours are supposed to be clear, right?

The picture is all the balls joined together but then desaturated to make it more grey.

A proper snooker cue is on my list.

I love every bit of it exept, the cursor what you use to aim your shot, i personally liked the other one better, not sure if other people would agree, but its perfect in every way exept from that,

The old cursor and 2 other choices are available via game options. The default and the textured ghost ball are worth learning though, they are rendered using the same process as the balls and are therefore exactly the same size as the ball.

Oh i see

And 1 more thing, if you could change the pool cue into a snooker cue, then its the best update ever

Damee - you didn't directly say i was making anything up. What you did say was that you questioned the likelihood of there being anything wrong on arcade, as I was saying, when the other formats were fine. Nothing to get upset about though.

Hmm, i'l give it a couple hours practice and hope to adjust to the update. As Damme earlier said, some of it might be pychological.

Hopefully i'll be back to my cent-missing best soon rather than not being close to a half.

Thanks Nick, it seems the re-install and a restart worked (still a bit slower than before the update but much better) Not sure why as I have ended up with the same version *Confused smiley*

Think it would be better less grey and more colour personally

Also is it possible to make the chat window sizes stay set like other options ?

Edit for tidying and a PS

The angles seem different, however as nick said this will be down to the anti-aliasing. As was pointed out, to pot before sometimes you actually had to aim off.

All in the update looks great and Im sure in a day or two we will all be cueing just fine.

You can never please all of the people all of the time, but games have to be updated and move with the times. Of its great to please us hard core funky snookerers but its also about expanding and attracting more users to the community.

Yeh i noticed that.

When you aim for a shot, and a week ago the angle would of been bang on, it seems to either rattle or go in of the pockets knuckle.

The angles may have changed but are fine, see above. You should try to learn the new cursors.

The old version was restricted due to certain capabilities which meant the balls couldn't be rendered in high detail. Now it can be improved it's enabled.

Let's put things another way:

The old table had some peculiarities, someone spilt drink over a certain corner of the table and a bit of a roll due to a damaged leg causing us to learn some peculiarities. Now I've put in a new table with shiny new cloth and levelled it off. I'm not really that keen to spill my drink over it and unbalance it.

Maybe a solution could be to all those that do have a problem is just like you have contrast, black metal , grey day all on a drop down list you could have the old layout too? Now don't get me wrong I like the update but for those who don't is all I'm saying...
