Well, maybe next year hey?
Tbh, that was shocking, just shows how bad we miss Alonso.
Good on the FA's "random" computer programme (like it randomly creates "super sundays" twice per year... hmmmmm.........................) to give us in the last 3 years tottenham away, Boro away and Villa away, while giving united and chelsea home ties against newly promoted, or relegation threatened teams.
Phil Dowd was awful today, what a boring game he created blowing his whistle eveery 5 seconds for nothing challenges. Hate it when Football is played like that, I was begging for the final whistle cos I was bored out my mind watching it.
Good job wire are going to WEMBLEYYYYYYYYYYYYyy

Bored? Spurs were better than you lot in every area of the park, outclassed and outplayed. Simple, boring for you as everytime your team had the ball, no penetration or threat at all, not only do you miss alonso but if gerard and torres dont play well, you look ordinary

No spurs scored off 2 set pieces - it was hardly entertaining stuff, yes one was a cracker but still off a set piece, we scored a penalty, if Keane had anything about him the game would have been long gone like but nope. But after a summer of watching flowing rugby league, to go back to stop start football like that was frustratingly dull. On that point, in rugby the idea is to get as far up the field as possible before being floored, amazing how you can stay off the floor when the incentive is there not to , instead in football free kicks are given when ever a player goes down (Defoe holding his face like he'd beeen elbowed for example.... ARGHHHHHH worse than diving!!!!!
Shame the ref ruined what would of been a flowing game cos spurs play good football, and we had to go for it.
Oh yh, going by what Dowd give free kicks for, we should have had a second penalty and a red card, he was last man, cos that very same tackle was made outside the box at least 10 times, and free kick was given. Preferably, the game should have just been allowed to flow in the 1st place, but once you start giving yellows and free kicks for nothing you make your own bed as a ref.
Not good enough from us though, deserved what we got.
Season is nearly over before its begun.

talk about conspiracy theories!! the FA doesnt like liverpool and creates the fixtures accordingly??
i was having a conversation earlier and was told that liverpool were losing, my first reaction was that will be blamed on not having alonso.....
and when all else fails blame the ref.
so all in all, the FA, the Real Madrid president and Phil Dowd all teamed up to deprive Liverpool of the league

Two things I was shocked about yesterday:
- Newcastle played well
- Ameobi played class!?!?! :-O :-S
Steven Taylor normally stays after the match and has a little walk towards each stand clapping but went almost all around the stadium yesterday, can't help but think that was him saying bye I will be gutted if he leaves, shows how Man City are even having a negative effect on teams in lower leagues.
It seemed that as soon as confidence got up yesterday the players came out of their shells, Colocini was bad in the first half, but alright in the second, still don't trust him to be playing there though.
There was a few chants against Mike Ashley and more for Sir Bobby Robson, I really do think a minutes silence is much more a sign of respect and rememberance than a minutes applause though. You get noise like that in a football stadium anyway, getting a stadium completely quiet for a minute wont happen anywhere (Okay, so maybe a couple of stadiums ) so the silence really does make it better I believe.
But yeah, things are looking a little better, but there's still time for more players to go and I've still not got much hope.

The Fa loves United, not hates Liverpool, Real President has its own agenda, Phil Dowd was equally poor for both teams, making the game increasingly boring, and failing to grasp the consept of the advantage rule.
All I said was that we get harder away ties, and that the computer is not random as we have super sundays - Liverpool V United followed by chelsea V Arsenal.
The ref was inconsistent, if he penalises a nothing tackle outside the box, then he has to carry that on through the game. Which he didn't.
I thought you didn't like football Deco, which seems pretty clear in your summary.
Tom, I said that before the start of the game today, much rather a minutes silence than a minutes applause IMO.
Plus, the atmosphere after a minutes silence when the ref blows the whistle is amazing.

i think the minutes silence shows respect to somebody who has died but a minutes appluase honours the deceased persons achievements.

To make another point.. Last 3 seasons United drawn at home to newcastle, birmingham and another promoted team, record is 5 points from 9.... So sometimes playing at home doesnt make the slightest bit of difference......

a period at 2-1 where the game was swinging uniteds way and you pinched a 3rd and 4th goal, maybe if you lot were able to see off middle of the table teams instead of drawing with them you might of won the league. Then again, referees hate you despite having 146 minutes stoppage time last year, more than any other team, including 79 at home... and gaining 27 points from goals in the last ten minutes and in stoppage time, maybe you wont have that luck this year.

It's not actually 'random', it's a lengthy process to try and get everything right, though the constant 'Super Sundays' show that Sky are having their influence as well.
Have a read of this article about it, it's been around a while and takes a while to read but it's quite interesting.
Before a game there is always going to be noise and applause going on in the stadium, the effect that the minute's silence showed real respect in that everyone stayed quiet to reflect on the person's life. A minutes applause has no-where near the same effect.

there is shouting and appluase but there is nothing to the extent of 40000plus people clapping at the same time.
for example at anfield for the hillsborough memorial.
i do appreciate where you are coming from but i think both silence and appluase are equal methods of showing respect

40,000+ people clapping at the same time happens quite a bit through a match, it happens 2 minutes before a minutes applause would be held when the players come out.
A minutes silence is a far greater method of showing respect, but due to the fact on the odd occasions there have been morons (There are more fitting words that can't be used ) trying to spoil it the FA have given in to them.
And Newcastle's squad photo for the season has been done:

there still is a big difference between that applause and the appluase out of respect
nobody shouting etc

Erm yes there is because I don't know about anyone else, but I don't have a clue what you're on about.
I can sorta see where you're coming from deco, but the minute silence is something you simply don't get at football grounds so that is a real sign of respect.

How can you say that!? Yes Gerrard was bad! But Babel was in a league of his own on the awful scale!
