Its not that Gerrard was bad, it was the fact that he now plays further up top, so like Torres needs the service, that came with Alonso last year, but now we have to rely on Lucas and Masch who aint the most creative of midfielders.

So until the 70 minute mark he hardly seen the ball, (like Torres!) but then when he dropped back to midfield he started to influence it a bit more, but then we had to put up with Vorinin in Gerrards old place. In there lies the true problem.

Hopefully Aquiliani will get back from injury soon, but then hes played aboout 20 games in the last 2 years so that don't look hopeful.

So far this summer we have recouped more than we've spent. Surely our owners don't think that the current squad is good enough!! Rafa needs to get some quality in as well. Personally wouldn't sign an injured player, cos by the time he is fit, the league could be over, and then he might be a complete crock.

Bit worried already about our top 4 place, especially with City.

Wigan look a cracking side under Martinez, I think hes going to be an amazing manager, seen Swansea a lot last year (best mate supports them) and they are bottom of the league now! But to beat Villa at home 2-0 and to play good football as well in his first game is good going. I reckon he could be our next manager quite easily yano. And if we finish out the top 4 that will be quite soon.

:S It's first game of the season, ffs! Stop being so bitter and look forward to the next game and move on! United will lose about 4 games this season, stop being so negative Mike.

You can talk

Its not bitter to say am worried about our top 4 place, its honest. United lost 5 games last season didn't they? so if they lose 4 we got an even bigger hill to climb.

Its not United i'm worried about, its Chelsea. United wont win the title this year.

Lol, ano but its based more towards heart, lungs reactions, stamina and ligaments. Basically to asess the likelyhood of future problems.

It's not bitter saying that they might not finish in the top 4, Ste, it's very pessimistic though, especially considering as you say it's only one game in.

It's like Arsenal fans saying they're going to win the league because they wont 6-1 at Goodison. Before the season even they were starting to think they might not finish in the top 4, and I'm sure some are thinking they're gonna win the league now. It's the opposite way round for you, but it's not gonna happen.

I am the ultimate pessemist when it comes to Liverpool. Best way to be, avoids disapointment, and makes it better if they prove me wrong. That performance yesterday though was appauling, to slow in posession, and we basically bypassed the midfield and went for Evertons long ball route. And we don't have Fellaini or Crouch, so whats the point.

Saturday was intresting down the brit, we played not as well as the score showed nuthing really going for both team but we still managed to walk away with the 3 points

In the second half I was praying Burnley came out and gave us everyhting becuase I wanted Stoke to pick up and play a decent game of football.

I don't think how we played will give us anything at Anfield on Wednesday think you might take all 3 points but on the other hand I can't wait to see how Burnley will preform at home becuase Stoke started on a 3-1 loss to Bolton but were unbeatable at home so will be intresting how they turn out and how they preform

Haha well you'll definitely stand out from the crowd with that! It's funny actually, we met a family from Newcastle on holiday and the dad and son had a season ticket quite near us. I knew he had that yellow top so thought I'd have a look for that, sure enough the first one I saw was him!

I havnt wrote on this thread for a while,

so hi how are we, i thought for the first week of the premiership, its been great this season will be quality,Arsenal with the perfect reply, City off the Mark away from home, Spurs beating Liverpool, Chelea scrappin with Hull, amazing,

Im a city fan, really happy with the team we have plus away from home we won twice last season so 50% OF THE WAY TO BEATING THAT, i watched the Liverpool spurs game and really enjoyed the second half, Harry Redknapp is a legend. Liverpool i think will be ok, just need to fill the gap left by Alonso,
