Cameroon 2-0 Japan
In a tight first half both teams were restricted in chances early on, with both teams lacking a cutting edge in the final thrid. It wasn't until the 43rd minute when the dealock was broken, when a free kick hit by Geremi was saved by the Japanese keeper, only for Arsenal's Alexandre Song to tap in the rebound.
Half-time: 1-0
After the break Cameroon came rushing forward to try to put the game to rest. Despite creating numerous chances they were only able to score a second, when Samuel Eto'o was sent through on goal following an inch perfect through ball from Alexandre Song, who has having a fantastic game. Eto'o used his classy skill to round the keeper and double Cameroon's lead in the 71st minute. Cameroon defended their lead well and after the match manager Bak2biscuits said 'It was a great performance from the players today, plenty of positives can be taken from todays game and we will look to continue this form throughout the remainder of the group stage.'

Slovakia 2-0 New Zealand
In a closely contested tight game Slovakia finished with a flattering scoreline in all fact.
In the first half Slovakia had many chances to put the game to rest but failed to take them but after a few tense moments they eventually took the lead over New Zealand.
A few moments into the game the referee stopped the game for a bad injury to a highly rated New Zealand Player.
Soon After the stoppage Slovakia cought them on the break wit a quick 30 to finish off the game.
In an even game Slovakia were flattered by a result that did not show the truth of the game.
Great game for all the 0 spectators watchin from the stands

FIFA president Sepp Blatter has requested that the 3 remaining fixtures of Matchday 1...
...are played so that tournament can proceed to Matchday 2.
There were rumours that France manager Raymond Dame-nec still needs more time in order to consult his Tarot cards deck prior to kick-off against the Latin Americans, while German coach Junior_ was drinking beer in a Cape Town pub at the moment of Blatter's statement.
The Swiss president also shared his views on who's gonna win this World Cup, following the completion of most matches in Matchday 1:
''We have seen some great football already and we're still early in the tournament. The most skilled players from around the world have gathered here and millions of spectators around the globe are thrilled by this great feast. One should expect that the powerhouses would easily go through, but we've had a few shocks already, with the England / Spain losses and the holders struggling to beat Paraguay. My opinion is that for the first time in the history of World Cup this could be anyone's tournament, as gaps in quality between teams have significantly been reduced. I wouldn't be surprised if a team like Cameroon or Chile went all the way to the Johanessburg final.''
France v Uruguay (Dame v Rustythedog), France chooses game type
Germany v Australia (Junior_ v Fester2007), Germany chooses game type
Chile v Honduras (Cue_Power v Nut_Case), Chile chooses game type

Japan ready for matchday 2
Japan manager Mr. Arpeggi spoke about his teams first performance and the rest of the fixtures.
" I don't really think our boys were up to the pace and finishing of Cameroon. Saying that, there can be no excuses and we were poor. I am positive that my players can produce results and get the goals required to progress in this tournament."
Hmm, we''ll see about that

The Daily Funkle
North Korean manager Decomoto reveals his dismay at delay in second round of fixtures.
"the delay is outrageous, the teams should be thrown out of the competition, makes a mockery of the whole game... FIFA at it again, helping the "bigger" teams, ireland fiasco all over again... its an outrage"
Strong words from a clearly frustrated Decomoto. His sides poor start to the campaign must not have helped matters. 1000-1 before the tournament and after their first performance it was clear as to why

Okay, Denmark coach is dissatisfied, I don't think he's much wrong, I could wait until these 3 games are played, but they might never do, so I'd like some feedback on what we should do here...
I know Germany (Junior_) is ready to play his game and I've been told that Australia (Fester2007) isn't online these days, so this game could be 3-0 to Germany if Fester doesn't show up soon... but I'll also have to ask the other 4 coaches (France, Uruguay, Chile, Honduras), that's Dame, Rustythedog, Cue Power and Nut Case, if they still like to play in the World Cup, what does everybody think we should do...

Portugal 4 - 0 N. Korea
a much improved performance by the koreans was snuffed out by the much more skillful portuguese. the koreans were unlucky in the first half hitting the crossbar after great build-up play. "poor shot choice under pressure" was the verdict of decomoto after the game. "there was an easier shot available but unfortunately he lost his head under pressure... that was vital, if it had of gone in the game could have gone differently, but thats life"
the portugese seized control after that crucial miss and never looked back after scoring with 5 minutes remaining in the first half. "they have very few weaknesses and look a real threat to win the competition outright"
the second half was all one way traffic after an early shot on target from the koreans.
2 goals at the start of the second half killed off the game as a contest.
"we restored pride in our jersey out there tonight so despite being out of the competition we will try go home with at least a point from our last game in the group"
Depite rumoured arguments over suspected drug use in the korean camp both managers seemed in high spirits after the game

Latest: Italy looking for new manager
According to Italian media, Gianluigi di Simone, president of the Italian Football Federation has decided to dismiss coach Garethclin after the World Cup is over, following the azzurri's shocking defeat to ultimate underdogs New Zealand last night in South Africa.
The name of Rafa Benitez was rumoured as a potential successor. Garethclin can prepare his team for the last group match against Slovakia, and probably his last match as the manager of the national squad. The World Cup holders can now only hope for a miracle in order to qualify to the knock-out stage.
