Dont forget. You wouldn't have to be thinking of how to improve the clan situation, if you lot never changed it in the beginning.

(These dates aint exact, just examples)

2007 & 2008: 13 to a clan.

2009: 30+ to a clan.

2010: You want it back the way it was, with rules in place.

You get my point?

coming in with a completely radical suggestion (please rip to pieces if you wish):

max clan size: 20

clan split into 1st and 2nd team, 1st team 6 players + 2 subs, 2nd team max 10 players + 2 subs. At the start of a season/round of matches or whatever, clan captains make it clear which players belong in which team so there is no chopping and changing. Then have a 1st and 2nd division, all 1st teams in 1st division playing 6v6, all 2nd teams in 2nd division playing up to 10v10 (maybe shorter matches here to help it move along).

At the end of a season/round clan captains may promote/demote players between teams. this gives the 2nd team players something to work for and gives them motivation to succeed, and gives 1st team players a reason to try 100% so as not to be dropped. This would also encourage clans to incorporate many players out there who at the minute dont have clans.

just a different thought for you

back on topic:

if you cut down clan size what you will get is less active clans, not more. clans like the hustlers, FSE, untouchables will become small groups of the best players and it will be those clans that win the league every time. the "new clans" will be made up of the less good players and will therefore have no chance of ever winning. logical consequence, they lose interest in the clan system. this is a game, people want to play to win.

imagine the premiership in football if players werent paid and just played for fun. the only incentive to play is to win, but only some teams will ever win (the last time a team other than man utd, arsenal or chelsea won the premiership was 1995). What you would be left with is a few small clans fighting it out each time.

i thought the idea of this was to get more players playing clan games, not less...

Adam brings great points to the table here, im sure people agree with you mate, in a way the system would be similar to whats going on here right now with larger clans

The proposal were making would have an initial vote to decide who is for and against the changes so im sure your not alone thinking that.

Time for an interjection from Admin methinks

We have done a fair bit of work along with Clan leaders/League runners over on pool to try to get a working system in place, and it seems to be paying off as you can see. This is a copy/merge of a few posts from the development stages to give you food for thought regaring improving the clan system on snooker, should changes be decided upon.

The word "Official" was removed from pool clans and should not be used in case, in future, automated leagues are incorporated into the site (it also avoids confusion and arguments if more than one league is in operation.)

Members are welcome to use the clan forums, external sites, or a combination of both to run and manage clans and leagues.

Whilst we are aware of the dedication of many members to thier respective clans and leagues, and what is required to run them, we cannot begin creating sub-forums for every new league or event.

Therefore, all we ask is that any new league complete one full season, at which point we shall create a sub-forum if the organisers wish, to help keep things managable.

Moderation of clan forums has always been a hot issue and, whilst we respect the effect it may seem to have upon initial reading, we shall no longer have any moderators who are involved in running leagues assigned to moderating clan forums.

This should go some way to avoid accusiations of selective moderation and eliminate as far as possible, any atmoshere of bias. Forum moderators or admin can be contacted to set up the forums as required, and further intervention should be rare.

Clan chat forums will then be moderated as per any other forum on the site, with any non result/fixture related posts removed clinically from such threads.
---------------------------------------------------------

Hope that gives something to bear in mind/discuss, and from a personal point of view, I do see what some say about restricting numbers meaning one or two top class clans will always win, but if someone decides to run a league where times are tight and timing rules strictly obeyed, you may find newer hungrier players will fit games in where others will treat it more casually and forfiet..

one quick thing that popped into my head earlier this morning:

for new clans that are set up, i think they should have to complete at least one full friendly clan game to be accepted into the clan league

edit: forgot to say, i also think for the clans that have more players than the max limit (whatever its decided to set it at), i think they should be allowed retain some/all of them players provided their is a clear understanding between clan captains/FSCA/everybody else that the "extra" players are non-playing members and have no desire to play clan games. honourary (sic) members if you will

lol you have to laugh a lot of people seem to forget its a game and tbh every1 has a choice what clan they join for same as we all have a choice if we come on funky snooker rather than pool

but as for the clan size situation yeah a lot of clans have big teams but that should gaurentee that clan matches get played to a finish something that aint been happening in any clan for a few reasons

i myself have about what 16-20 members but at any1 time i may only have say 10 availible for a match and if u look into clans more u'll find most clans are all friends with each other they dont wanna play for another team its more a community in a community

we should be supporting each other rather than attacking clans for having to many members how many people are on funky snooker at any 1 time say 280-300 (was 287 when i signed in) out of that how many are in clans the majority or a minority i'd say minority but were still moaning about clans

if u want good players in ur clans look for them dont moan that some1 is better than u i think that clan captains ond clan captains alone should meet for talks on how many members ur allowed in a team and then resolve any issues inhouse if every1 with an opinion jumps on board things will never get resolved

anyway thats my view on the subject if u want to talk to me pm me cheers
