Isn't the footballing structure roughly the same across all major European leagues?
I'm guessing some of the American owners are very fond of this idea- professional sports in the US have no relegation.

Racism is a tricky one.

If theres 40,000 fans making monkey noises from the stand - then thats damn right racism.

But I went to a good school in a well respected community and there were divides of race. I.e Black group, white group and asian group.

We were all friends and they were all from wealthy backgrounds, the type who never incomplete their homework, speak during lessons... which I am incapeable of doing .

But in the playground and now in the pub etc, we are all completely racist to eachother. We have eachothers names saved in our phone under racist names and not one of us takes the slightest disrespect when being racially abused by one another.

We would say - "You goofy muppet" and their response might be racist, we laugh.

So if Evra has called and I quote, "Suarez ol' chap, you are one goody muppet har har har" (Thats how I imagine Evra to speak like)

Then maybe Suarez offered out a bit of racist banter.

People take racism differently and I think if nobody made a big deal out of racism, then what would be the problem?

Racism is for self absorbed, attention seeking, weak individuals to play up on being abused.

Like girls who left school for being bullied about their looks, when they are just incredibly gorgeous.

Its a ridiculos thing.

My dad is married to a Ghanian women, and has a black child. He is completely racist. He is Scottish < Now me saying "Scottish" is being racist, but thats deemed okay because im Scottish?

So why isnt much fuss made when Spanish footballers are said to be good because they are "Spanish". He is Spanish? Must be good then.

Racism is what you make it basically. I feel that there are too many forms of actual racism, discremination etc to just say racism is one step too far.

Lets kick racism out of football?

Why?

Why not just make the weak people who exaggerate a few words or a banana being thrown at them, into stronger people aka grown ups!

I'd take a pathetic £100k a week to be sexually abused by Gary Glitter and these people are complaining about a comment made ha!

I appreicate the slave trade etc, but the time has come where we accept racism, embrace it. That is the only way to kick racism out of anything, by erasing it mentally.

wow.
Well, I can only offer American sports as the counterexample to European racism in football. I've been to over a hundred sports events in the US and have NEVER heard a single racist chant, word, or image. Ever.
The US was riddled and crippled with racism until the late 1960's. They got it out of the public by confronting it head on in all aspects of society. Of course racism still exists in some parts of the population. It certainly does not exist in the open anymore.

Racist slurs are not made up, they're not a joke. They were used to keep millions of people down and subject them to humiliation and injustice. This was not hundreds of years ago. This occurred during the lifetimes of a number of users on here. There are thousands of people alive today who's parents were killed in the name of racism.

The day we accept racism as inevitable I'm moving away lol. Luckily, most people won't.

Regarding Suarez- IF he is proven to have used racial slurs, I hope he is punished with a lengthy ban. If it is shown that Evra said similar things to him, he should be punished similarly.

Don't put it that way, think of it as, the rise of injustice.

A middle finger to racism. For all the people to have suffered in the past, all the millions of people who had pain inflicted upon them rest their souls, just everyone together come forward and not accept racism, but just purely disregard it.

If racism was just like, "Yeah okay mate, nice insult..." It wouldnt be an issue.

And what you say about America? Irradicated racism?

The USA has the highest racism rate due to evangelical christans or something? Not quite sure what religion but that springs to mind.

Just like how in a documentary I watched a staggering 40% of Americans dont accept homosexuality, all due to religion.

America is a terrible example for erasing racism. When I also remember that the 'majority' of crime within the USA is race related, due to gang culture.

If racism was ignored, then race related crime would reduce as some of those who particiapte wouldnt get their sick little buzz out of it.

Im not a racist person, but I say racist jokes for example. Not just about black people, which is I think deemed more horrific than abusing a white person racially?

Racism isnt nice, but whats more disgusting is everything about it. A black person often salutes another by a racist slur, white people dont refer to one another as "Whats happening my honkey brother" and racism to white people doesnt exist ha! So why does it vice versa?

Love how the word Honkey isn't blocked yet any other racist word is.

Thats why racism is weak.

If white people had suffered instead of those who did in the slave trade, would it make me different? Would I be offended? No.

And neither are any of the black youths of today, as im sure none of them actually even care or no the full extent of the history of racism. Time has moved on, equal rights acts were inforced. I just feel strongly that racism as a whole is a joke in general.

I just want to say, If I have offended anyone in anyway, Then it wasnt my intention. Im just being really blunt about this and voicing my opinion strongly, thats just how I am.

There is no such thing as a "racism rate"

That is of course just as wrong as racism (except that it isn't racism. Homosexuals aren't an ethnicity)

The majority of crime is inter-gang related. Gang violence is not automatically race-related. More importantly, the US has succeeded in limiting racism mostly to the criminal parts of the population.

If racism was ignored, the US would still not allow black people to ride on the same part of the bus as white people. Compare the US of 1965 to the US of today. I think the US is a brilliant example of how to deal with racism.

About racism towards white people. Completely agree with you. Slurs against white people are just as bad as the other way around. The reason it isn't perceived as such is that white people have historically been the oppressors....

Back to Football...

FOREST 2-0 Middlesbro

Great start for new manager Steve Cotterrrillll Going for a younger Midfield, ie, the Midfield Billy Davies had last season, so out go Reid, Boeteng and Greening, and Forest get a win ending Boros unbeaten start to the season

Youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu Reds

Nice last gasp win for Man City, a hugely important last minute goal for Aguero, they just havent been at the races whatsoever in their 3 Champions League Ties.. have to worry about them for their 2 away fixtures now after Napoli held Munich to a draw. And well done to Mancini for taking off an inaffective Adam Johnson for Barry in the First Half.

Other noteable results tonight include a fantastic game as Peterbro beat Cardiff 4-3, and the Saints beat the Hammers in the top of the table clash.

One more result tonight for you all.
Rangers 1-0 Loserpool.

Yeah, big win for FSE, I mean Man City.
Always difficult for Champions League first timers. Everyone here in Germany was enthusiastic about Dortmund (because they played brilliantly last season), but they've been crap so far.

Went out to watch United, they scrawped over the line, and a nice Rooney, Charlie Adam impression in there also which I'm sure Nicko will look past! (I think anyway, looked a soft one!) Not sure what the Vidic and the other fellas red cards were for, got a bad view through the beer goggles!

Forgot we had Rangers today! Bad times to lose to a Scottish team

Good to get a bit of money back on the Danny Wilson deal though, which was it's real purpose.

Norwich next for us, should win that comfortably.

They are not Champions League first timers though. The team Man City are but at least 80% of their players have got Champions League experience.

While I can see where Derry is coming from, I must also say there is no need, and no excuse for racism.

Racism in general as a subject is racist though as it is mainly biased against white people, just my opinion.

A black, Asian, African or whatever could come say you white trash or whatever (which I have seen before) yet if the white person was to reply in a derogitory way towards any of the others or used the sentence above with their race or a word to describe their race it would be taken so much further than when said for a white person.

What happened in the past should stay there, there is no slavery or anything now so that should not be a factor in it like Seb said.

Racism is rife throughout our country, and if you think otherwise then just take a look at our justice system.

Black people are seven times more likely to be stopped and searched than white people. - Once stopped and searched, black people are no more likely than white people to be arrested. Tells you all you need to know really.

There are loads more stats like that. Can't see how it is us whites who are hard done by, by racism tbh.

Not saying we are hard done by, my point was trying to prove that racism towards white people, while in my eyes is just as much as racism towards other ethnic groups, is not noticed as much as it is towards other groups.

Probably went all around the world in my previous post and drifted away from my point so apologies for that.

See where I grew up through Primary School only white people went

In Highschool only white people attended untill 1 guy came when I was in year 11

The little area I live in Stoke on Trent has only white people living in it, and this is where people get mislead by how I was brought up..

We had a 'foreign' family move around the corner from me many years ago when I was a kid days later they had to move people put their windows through etc and when your a kid and everything else is like this you learn to grow up in this way.

You don't give people the chance they deserve because the social life is a massive devide it's always them and us not 'Ours' to this day i'm still in the same area and it's exactly the same because the younger kids learnt of their brothers and i'm guessing it's going to continue in that pattern for some while

But the situation is if your great grandad was a United fan so was your grandad and so was your dad the chances are along with the family you will be and it's exactly the same.

People look upto family members and friends and that's why the area I live will never change that is why in 1 to 2 years BNP will proberbly be the seat for Stoke on Trent

Also onto Football!!!!!

Man City hopefully get points deducted for throwing items on the pitch even though it was only paper kick them out!

My point exactly Si. (last post about the Asian guys)

It is ridiculous these days sometimes I feel as if I can't have a normal conversation about another race without someone crying they are being racially abused.

And while we are on petty things, all this p.c crap is doing my nut in too can't say anything these days without risking being banged up/ losing your job or whatever else.

It is stupid.
