I'm loving YOU are loving this thread Cuey !
Carom loves you too ! Fact . -
Nick is so active these days, so i decided to re-open the issue, after your previous 'attempt', hoping that it will finally get the attention it deserves. We got luckier this time.. :P
Not that Nick didnt care before, but, timing is everything sometimes!
I'm also posting LAG rule:
Official Rules : http://billiardsystems.com/gamerules.php
4. Lagging for the Break Position. (1) Each player selects a cue ball, which is placed on the table within the head string and the head rail, and then strokes the ball to the foot rail hard enough for it to return to the head rail. The balls in lagging may touch the side rails, though it is not required. If the two balls touch while being lagged, the player whose ball strayed across the center of the table will loose the lag. If a player's ball hits the red ball, or if the player's ball jumps the table, he will loose the lag. (2) The player whose ball comes to rest nearer to the head rail wins the lag. (3) The winner of the lag has the right to the break shot or to assign the break shot to the opponent. (4) The winner of the lag has the choice of cue balls, which is then used for the duration of the game.

Couple of minor carom changes went in this patch today.
1) Must hid red first from break (ie cushion first doesn't count)
2) More discrepancy for break placement (so more difficult to repeat breaks from choosing a particular pixel).

What cheatlag? You are allowed to hit the side cushions as far as I know.
Only fixed in game.

Just to clear up confusion. Unless im just stupid.
Yeah, cheat lag needs to be prevented. If you make it so a maximum of 2 cushions can be used, then it will work fine.
Seeing as you can only hit top then bottom cushion. If you hit top, bottom, top then its a foul anyway.
And yeah, the breaks a success like mooney said in practice.
Other than that..good job

http://www.funkysnooker.com/thread/6777/carom-lag-shot/1
This is the official rules in taking a lag shot Nick;
Lag for break
This rule is used to determine which player gets to play the opening shot. Balls of same weight and size, cue balls or non-stripe object balls are shot by both players at the same time, one from the right and other from the left of the head spot, to the foot cushion and back to the head end of the table. The ball that is nearest to the head cushion is considered as the winner. The balls shot for lagging should touch the foot cushion of the table at least once. There are various shots that are considered as loss of lag like when the ball jumps out of the table, crosses to the opponents half, falls into the pocket or touches the long side of the cushion etc.
Meaning you are not allowed to hit the side cushion, if so, that is a foul lag.

Also just noticed the balls don't rerack in the same position.
16:09 Mon 29 Nov 10 (GMT) [Link]
Oh yeah haha! Press re-rack 3 times, it moves slightly every time
There are 3 different placements from the re-rack.
This could work though you know, because it must be pretty hard to recongize what of the 3 possible positions of your ball is going to be, meaning you can't hit the same place everytime.

even if its on your own side?
1 thing i would like to request, is to be able to choose what colour to practice with, and it doesn't switch to the other colour when you miss, this will give you the opportunity to practice the breakoff with yellow instead of only white.
what you think?

i wouldnt care if it hits your own side.
as long as it can't cross to the other side of the table, no cheatlag is possible
