Like someone i know just said, it would be like getting in a taxi and only saying thanks if the driver drove extremely well and the correct way. Emmm......uh uh, you would say it EVERY time. Same thing can apply to buses.

So why they are defending it is beyond me!!

Im actually loving this its class. More and more people are showing their true character!

Arpeggi m8. The nature of written language, especially on the Internet is different to saying the same things verbally. A ''gg ul'' can mean a lot of things or it can mean nothing, there is the good natured one which shows respect to your opponent and there's the mechanical one which is just something to say. There are some players who have just won a frame and they say ''gg ul'' just to boost their own ego rather than sympathize with you, I prefer someone who says nothing to someone who feels he must constantly use a preset system of Internet abbreviations in order to just show a good image to the world and that he is polite.

Now we have played some great frames together in the past and I'm sure you've enjoyed them as much as I have, but you can't erase all that good sessions by saying I'm now showing my true nature because I feel it's offensive for someone to say that ''buses pass over'' or ''wolves with AIDS bite'' someone who potted some balls and left a game without typing something.

If a player has smashed the pack and made a 50+ or even a hundred, i would congratulate or type wp. i wouldnt call it a good game because i didnt actually play.

Veering off track slightly, i only type wp gg when they have actually won and i consider the frame over. There has been an occasion where i pressed enter before they played their shot and went in off a straight pink. i potted the white because i thought i put them off, hence why i think a concede button should stop the game there and then!!

Oh you misunderstood me m8, i said nothing of the sort, if you'll read back all my post here i havent said anything offensive to anyone. Especially people who i have played and enjoy playin with, yourself included.

Im just saying there are people here, some of them regular players, that wont type " gg ul" because they think they are above that. And they just lack manners. To be fair i just say it to be polite to everyone i meet. It is just annoying to have no response at all...or...." But it wasnt a good game" and i have to clarify that im actually just being nice.

Havnt read every comment in here so I could be wrong but nobody so far has disagreed and said that it really doesnt matter! I will be that person! It really isnt that big of a deal. It is an online game. You cannot compare it to anything in real life.

I am not in the "under 18" group and am rather mature (in real life, where it matters) yet I still see no need to say anything, to anybody, at any stage during a game. What difference does it make? Absolutely none. However, I wont lose any sleep over having ill wishes imposed on me by a name on a computer screen of somebody I do not know and will never meet.

I do agree with fragmented though, it is downright stupid and in fact rather rude to say "gg wp" when somebody plays extremely poorly or as can happen, doesnt even get a shot.

The other thing that needs to be considered, if you have nothing more to worry about than whether people type some rather pointless letters on a screen before/during/after a game of online snooker then life really is rather easy for you.

That is my opinion and I am as entitled to it as everybody else is on here.

And as already expressed by others, the generic saying things because its "polite" and "force of habit" is actually more rude than it is polite.
I would perfectly rather people not to say anything to me than to say something they dont mean.

Further to that, Michael, you must realise that not everybody agrees with your opinion. You must also learn to listen to peoples opinions despite the fact they may not be the same as your own. Be somewhat more open minded. It is a very negative attitude to have "Well I am right so nobody elses opinion matters" which is exactly what you are expressing at the moment.

I can see merit in being polite to people and on occasion when people genuinely play well or a game was genuinely good then i will say "wp" "gs" "gg" "ul". But as I mentioned, I wont say anything if somebody broke and cleared then said "gg wp" because I know a) i havent even played so how can i "play well"? Thats more patronising and annoying than it is polite.

All im going to say is

If someone wants to say gg or not what is the problem, i do this myself because im a nice fella! The only time i find myself getting annoyed is when i get abuse for nothing! At the end of the day lets all be nice/play nice it doesnt cost

I don't think I would want someone to die if they didn't say it
, buutt , I do think it's nice if you say it out of politeness!

I know how people behave in the Internet mate, it's really a sad story, nobody knows their real name so they think they can do anything because they won't get punished. There's a thing called integrity and they simply don't have it, most of them would be running cowardly if they told you those things face to face.

What we could do is the system I proposed two weeks ago about rating the sportsmanship of other members, most people seemed to like it, but honestly I don't see it being implemented anytime soon.


Took some time off, I like to play 5 or 6 frames when I'm logging in, message me anytime m8, you're still on my friends list.. I mostly play regular though, I've totally lost my original skills

I understand your point, and i also am aware that not everyone agrees with me.....it IS however interesting to see which people say it and who doesnt.

What i do not get, is why people wouldnt say it?? Its totally beyond me. Do you not want to come across as a nice person who has great sportsmanship? If people just went about every game not saying a word it wouldnt be much of a game would it. May aswell play the computer.
Ok fair enough if u dont wanna say it, then don't i really dont care. I will continue to be polite ad talk with my opponents in the hope, the lovely hope, that some people are really nice out there too.

I always say gg I never say your lucky blah it's always gg wp or gg ul and I promise you now I will get alot of bad sportsmanships

I don't leave games I always stay till the end but people don't like to loose and it will annoy me more having 10 bad even if I got 500 good as I should never of had them in the first place.

Why do people like you have to be so cynical all the time. Trying to act like you got some wisdom and dictating how people should behave. If someone posts gg in a match with the intent of being polite, why would that bug you?. Allot of people generally mean it so you all should lay off with the negativity. We all know it's just a game and we don't know the people we play/talk to and probably never will, but we still stand by our morals and act how we would in any other environment. If you don't want to say anything and treat players who write well intended gg's after a match with so much disdain then so be it but don't spit on everyone else's good nature.

And like hot_stuff is a idiot really bad sportsman he's about to loose and he just goes on...
