TOMMY SMITH is selling all the medals from his glittering Liverpool FC career.

The Anfield Iron's prized collection, which includes league title, FA Cup, UEFA Cup and European Cup winners' medals, will go under the hammer later this month.

In total there are 75 lots which are expected to generate in the region of £120,000. "I had a wonderful career but the memories I've got are more important to me than the medals and the shirts"

Smith said."I'm getting old and the money is of more use to me now than the medals. This is about me putting my family first. The Liverpool legend thought long and hard before coming to the conclusion it was time to part company with all the spoils from his illustrious career.



This is very sad. Selling off all his medals and England caps for what is now a weeks wages in football

Hope the club buys them off him before they go to auction and put them in the museum.

It is annoying that great players have to resort to this, whilst crap players like Gareth Barry and Wayne Bridge pick up 100K a week

I think after the big high from Chelsea they are going to go out and give nothing but their best, I can see Liverpool doing the same against United as they did City 'Park the bus for 60 minutes' bascially the same thing they moan about when they played Stoke at Anfield.

It makes you think how much of a sham some of todays football is, let's look after our Legends Stoke City should of looked after Banks he looked after our Club OUR Country and he had to sell his stuff to keep afloat it's pathetic.

A Manchester United fan who shouted racist abuse at a black player has been fined £200 and banned from football matches for three years.

Howard Hobson, 57, shouted the abuse and made monkey noises at Stoke City's Trinidad-born player Kenwyne Jones during the first half at Old Trafford on 31 January, Trafford magistrates court heard.

The defendant was asked to explain his actions by JPs after pleading guilty to a single charge of a racially aggravated public order offence.

"I'm not racist," he told the bench. "I have coloured people in my family and most of my best mates are coloured. I don't know what came over me. I'm deeply sorry."

After the half-time interval when Hobson returned to his seat he was spoken to by stewards and taken away and then transferred to a police station in Salford.

He said Wog and Monkey. Glad to see this being as widely reported as the Liverpool fan towards Tom Adeyemi and Patrice Evra...

Oh wait, no.

The Liverpool fan did it right after Suarez got caught using racist words against Evra, that's why the news picked it up.
This probably happens in all stadiums quite often, but is rarely worth reporting on by the media.

ahahahha that's exactly the class I expected from Suarez. No surprises there.

If someone accused me of being racist and I believed I was innocent I would also refuse to shake their hand. Simple.

Liverpool were out classed today and the result was probably fair, Suarez had little impact on the team and we would have probably benefitted starting Carroll and Bellamy, bringing Suarez on with half an hour to go.

Anyone who slates Suarez for what he done in the pre game handshake but defends Evra for his actions at the end are idiots, both players caused controversy probably to have a go at each other today. If you are going to say one was out of order you need to say the other was too.

Why the players had to wait for the tunnel for a bust up I dunno I kinda wanted to see Evra trying to get past Skrtel to get to Suarez (as was reported at half time)...

Oh well we got what we deserved.

Lol. Before this whole incident started, I always disliked Suarez. When the whole racism row kicked off, I could see Suarez was in the wrong and disliked him a little bit more. He just never ceases to amaze me... He's the biggest idiot in football at the minute, and that's a pretty tough accomplishment considering there are players like John Terry & Carlos Tevez still kicking about.

Why am I seeing people accusing Luis Suarez of yet more racism for refusing to shake Patrice Evra's hand? I would refuse to shake his hand as well if I was accused of that and believed I'd done nothing wrong!

I can see why he didn't shake hands, however it makes an absolute mockery of his "apology", which to be honest no-one took seriously anyway.

Watching now Spurs-Newcastle. Spurs is really outstanding and Newcastle just cant hold the pace of Modric, Adabayor, Bale and Saha. 4-0 at 35 mins.....................

I don't think he's being racist by not shaking hands, just incredibly stupid and disrespectful.
It could've all ended today with a handshake, but Suarez killed that off and set the stage for what was to come later.
