For the first time in this whole Luis Suarez affair i'm embarrassed by Liverpool.

Our owners have decided to put the image of themselves and their brand before that of an LFC employee amid pressure from our sponsors no doubt.

Reading the shallow apologies of Kenny, Luis and Ayre is just sickening.

Lets face it, Luis isn't sorry. He didn't want to shake his hand. Simple as that.

I found it interesting how the FA didnt 'cancel' the prematch handshake like they did with Terry.

Especially when Terry hasnt been trialed yet, and Suarez was found guilty?

Just another factor in the FA trying to ruin us.

@cue_power (on previous page)

You've only been a top 4 club since 2003 remember.
Without trying to sound too harsh, I've never seen Chelsea as a "big" club, or a club that should always be challenging for the Champions League, mainly because when I look at a club, I also look at their history and fans, which are areas that Chelsea don't shine under.

Obviously you've been a good team for the past 9 years or so. That much is obvious, as you've hovered around the top 3 for that long, but from a neutrals perspective, I'd rather see a team like Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Leeds, Newcastle, and dare I say it, Sunderland, challenge for the Champions League over a team like Chelsea, as those clubs have a lot of great history, and some of the best fans in the country (bar Arsenal perhaps , however it's hard for a London club because there are so many teams based in the city).

Just thought I'd add my two cents. No offense intended of course.

Tbh, Luis told Kenny he was going to shake Evras hand, hence the hand shaking ceremony took place.

I think Luis was right to apologise to the club for going back on his word, but for him to have to apologise to Evra, for Kenny to be forced into it as well is a disgrace.

John Henry and Ian Ayre have made themselves very unpopular today in order to please the media and our sponsors.

They will end up like Hicks and Gillette if they carry on this way. They have got it so wrong. Liverpool fans were united, us against the world. Now it's the fans against the owners again.

Now we have a real problem. There will be more fall out to come.

John Barnes is being a hero tonight on Sky and Talksport. What he says is very true.

I hear what you are saying. Chelsea is one of the worst teams to support in the sense of fans and atmosphere. We dont really have any songs... I dont no why that is the case? All we really have is "blue is the colour" which isnt really a proper football song lol.

Our stadium 42k is a fair few as well.

Just because a club has 'had' history doesnt mean they automatically deserve to be good. You earn what you are.

People naturally assume Chelsea are lucky because we got Roman, but lets face it, he is Russian and wasnt a previous Chelsea fan... it was Chelsea and their directors as well as owner who intised him to us. So we did work for it, wasnt luck.

Before we were taken over we had just had a best season. We had some of the most brilliant foreign signings ever. We had a team, and we were good. We beat United, Liverpool and Arsenal on many occassions, it was just Charlton and Leicester that done us! haha.

But the last 9 years, we have been the most prolific Champions League team with the exception of barcelona, and we havent even won it! We are 1 of 4 teams who have won the premier league and won the domestic cups a fair few times, achieving doubles and missing out on a quadruple quite narrowly.

We have our history. But are history is present history, not ancient history.

Saying Newcastle, Leeds, Forrest deserve to be there because they 'were' is like saying they should be relegated and low, because they 'were' also that!

Why is it us against the owners? I thought the owners were making it very clear that no one is bigger than the club including Kenny.

Why? Just have a look on our forums and on twitter. It doesn't matter why, it just matters that it is. Every Liverpool fan is incensed and every scouse basher is loving it.

And King Kenny is Liverpool. He is everything our club stands for. To go against him in this way knowing full well our fan base were fully behind him and Suarez was a poor poor political move.

What have they done for us since buying us for pennies? The money has been very low, people bang on about our spending. Rubbish.

Suarez, Carroll, Bellamy, Henderson = Torres, Babel and Meireles and Ngog exactly. In fact we save loads on wages.

We've spent £20M on Downing who's been a disaster. 6M on Adam who is poor £6M on Enrique and 5M on Coates.

£37M in 3 transfer windows is not really the investment we needed.

Their honeymoon period is over.

Of course it matters why. We can't keep having a go at the owners or they won't give the club the support it needs.

I think the owners have done the right thing. If the club keeps falling down this slippery slope there will no longer be any return. Liverpool Football Club would be branded racist.

Chelsea are a very stable and consistant club who in the last 15 years have never struggled. We have never really dipped out of the top 8 and one of few clubs (7) that have always been in the top flight.

We have the records for -

Most home wins in a season
Most away wins in a season
Most wins in a season
Fewest losses in 4 consecutive seasons
Most goals ever scored in a season
Best goal difference... ever
Fewest goals conceaded... ever
Most home goals... ever
Most away goals.. ever

Not to mention that we are basically second to every other stadning record...

If that isnt history... I dont no what it! Apart from Man U... we are the next best English club (statistically).

So anything Chelsea do achieve, is totally deserved.

Return from where? Football has always hated us. It is our natural position.

We are not here to please our haters! Especially not at the expense of those who pay for their wages.

You always overreact Michael!

All these conspiricy theories that everyone is out to get you...

End of the day, Suarez was racist, and didnt shake a black mans hand... its hardly good for rapport!

Liverpool (just like any other football club) is a business. The main aim of any business is to make profit, the 2nd main aim is to increase profit. The 3rd main aim is to decrease costs (to increase profit further!) Lol.

You got £50m off us for a jacket potato and I think we have wasted 400m on stupid players. At least your owners buy cheap players that you can get a return off! And look... you are just behind the mighty Chelsea... if I said you can be this close to Chelsea at this stage of the season... you would of bit my hand off! Right? Haha

Yes but they would care if no money is coming in because we have no sponsers, therefore no players are coming in and we would have to sell before we buy. A situation Fenway clearly want to avoid for the good of the CLUB.

These owners have been decent so far. I don't think listening to a few paranoid posters in the Liverpool forums should bring us to the conclusion that it is us against the owners.

Cantona - who kung fu kicks a fan. Roy Keane- intentionally ending the career of Alf Inge Haaland. Giggs - who sleeps with his sister in law. Rio - who skipped a drug test. Rooney - who went with prostitutes while his wife was pregnant. But according to Fergie these incidents aren't a disgrace to MUFC, but when Suarez refused to shake hands with Evra, then he is a disgrace and should never be allowed to play for LFC again!!!! WHAT A ___

Facebook page... speaks sense though!

I'd rather watch AFC Liverpool than Liverpool at the moment.

We shouldn't be selling our morals for their money.

FSG care about themselves. If getting relegated got them more money they'd be going for that.

They care nothing about the club. They are not Liverpool fans. Anyway, Liverpool will never struggle for sponsors!

ACON final on now. Gone into extra time. 0-0 atm but a great game. Drogba whacked a penalty over for Ivory Coast but Zambia are the better side.

Oh and Zambia hit the post from 6 yards! Boss save!

Not that this matters much for Liverpool fans- but all the sports teams that John Henry has touched in the US (that I know of) have been hugely successful and he has been a very popular owner who stuck A LOT of money into all of those teams. He has a $200 million payroll for his baseball team, so I think he does care (at least about them, haha).

You don't need to tell me mate, I know full well about John Henry and his baseball, Nascar and football team.

Success is good, love it. Selling your soul to achieve it however doesn't interest me in the slightest. I'd rather rot at the bottom of the conference. I've been a season ticket holder at Warrington in rugby all my life when we finished 2nd bottom ever season. Liverpool being crap is not that big of a concern. That it represents the fans who pay its staff is the most important.

This fells has it spot on;

Yes there comes a point when you have to draw a line under things, but in doing that you don't sell out to the media and hang your Manager and Player out to dry, that has never been acceptable at Liverpool and Never will be.

After everything Kenny has done for Liverpool FC the City and for the families of the 96, he's been made to apologise
all because our owners are more concerned about their image than they are the strength of Luis & Kennys convictions that Luis is innocent.

That leaves a very bitter taste in my mouth.

Maybe they just realized they were wrong?

As you said before, everyone but Liverpool fans think Suarez was wrong not to do the handshake. I think Suarez is sorry that he didn't shake Evra's hand, not because he thinks Evra is right in all this, but because it made him and the club look even worse than before.

I think this allows them to move on fairly quickly. It will die down in a few days and, with the exception of when Man Utd and Liverpool play next season, won't be talked about much anymore. That's exactly what the club wanted and what is good for Liverpool in the long-term.
Nobody wants to be branded racist, especially not American owners (they're a lot touchier about racism than Europeans).
