I think only England coaches can't see that Micah Richards is the best RB we have. Glen Johnson? Jesus Christ.

Then we have Downing who has done absolutely nothing to prove his worth, I say give Adam Johnson a shot.

Carroll is another horrendous decision, truly shocking. I heard that Roy phoned Kenny and Kenny gave him reasons as to why Carroll should be picked and that made up his mind... what does Roy expect him to say? 'Nah he's crap don't take him', if only. Sturridge or Crouch for me.

Also noticed Lennon isn't going, quite disappointing but who's place would he take?

Not the best squad, glad Oxlade-Chamberlain got a call-up, I think he's a fantastic player who's only going to get better.

Also I noticed that all the players I've questioned are Liverpool players, but I'm not saying this because I hate Liverpool before any one says...

This frisky German wants the Germans to win of course.

But Chelsea certainly have a chance- it's only 1 game! But Bayern will be pumped up after a heavy loss in the German cup final last weekend.

and their home ground, home fans will help them alot

As an Englishman I shall be supporting Chelsea, if just for the coefficients.

As a grounded football pundit I make Bayern favourites and expect them to win by a couple of goals.


Oh, and Dalglish has left Liverpool/been sacked.

Also, @ sean_paul, how can you say you'd rather have Crouch than Carroll? Are you mental?? Crouch is poo, Carroll is just starting to find his form and is a class player.

Good post. Agree with most things said here, although Carrol has been playing better towards the end of the season this is a big chance for him hopefully he performs well on this big stage.

Been raging all morning after Woy made the team annoucement!

What an embarrassment. I didn't expect England to progress, but I expected to at least put up a fight. Disgusted.

Obviously, Bias to Chelsea players but seriously, Sturridge had to of been picked. Thats a crime against mother nature. The reason Sturridge is so important is not only is he better than Theo Walcott and Downing, he is better than the strikers selected!

With Rooney being suspended for the first 2 of the 3 games, who are we playing? Carroll/Defoe up top?

Young - Welbeck - Sturridge. Its a no brainer for me that. They have defended the team selections for 'youth'... Sturridge is so young? So it Johnson, so is Lennon, so is Richards!

Pretty sure Walker hasnt actually been ruled out through injury, he has to be the first choice rightback, but if he isnt fit then Micha Richards all day long.

Ironically Gary Neville (a right back) joins the England staff and look! We have the worse English rightbacks on the planet... in the bloody Euro squad! Calamity Johnson and Phil Jones who has been battered so much this season.

Only saving graces are Joe Hart, Terry, Cahill and A.Cole. Even tho Lescott will no doubt get the nod even though he's pish.

Honestly cannot believe Downing as well. If I were Adam Johnson or Danny Sturridge I would have a mid life crisis because what more can Danny boy do to get in the squad over someone whos contributed nothing all season. So harsh!

Carroll has good potential, but all season I have seen him miss sitters.

Defoe plays on the bench & is 3rd choice striker at Spurs after Adey and Saha.

Gerrard named captain as well, he has hardly played a game this season, he isnt fit enough to play for Liverpool yet we captain him and expect him to play 3 games in a few days for the Euros? Bloody ridiculos.

Is that a serious post? Crouch may not be a brilliant player but he can score goals at international level. Carroll can barely score goals at Premier League level.

Is that a serious post? Carroll was scoring for fun at Newcastle, and is starting to find his feet at Liverpool. He has the potential and has proven that. Crouch has had the chance to play at international level, Carroll has hardly had a game for England. For Crouch's age, he's been awful at international level, scoring what, like 20 times if that.. Add on the fact that he's 30+ whilst Carroll is still only young.

Too tired to think of others but crouch is up there with the goals and the least amount of games, he should of been picked over carroll.

I would write a post out but jay summed it up for me. Sometimes I think you only argue with me because I'm a Sunderland supporter :/ You ain't always right mate although you seem to think you are.

Whatever you reply to this, you have to accept that it's a big risk taking Carroll, he misses a lot of chances at Liverpool and there are certainly more deserving people that should go over him. If not Crouch, Sturridge and some people think Holt but I'm not so sure.

Kenny really is a class act. I love that man so much. Never has a bad word to say about the club, was sacked after 18 months but refused to take compensation.

I hope he is all right, he is the greatest ever player to play for the club, and a very successful manager. I feel very sorry for him and would have hoped the owners would have given him another season or allowed him to resign.

The owners have chosen 4th place over silverware. I'm not happy with that outlook at all.

Roberto Martinez looks to be the man to face the American chop next. If I were him I'd stay at Wigan.

The owners are starting to get a bad name for themselves amongst supporters. Liverpool has never been a club who sacked managers after a bad league season.

It is all very sad and the likes of Gerrard, Downing, Carroll who are all off to the Euros with England somehow should be blaming themselves today. A lot of players let him down.

You think Crouch and Holt deserve to play for England more than Carroll?? Lol. It's not a big risk at all.. Carroll is a brilliant player. I'm thinking maybe you just don't rate him because he's from Gateshead and played for Newcastle.

Alright, his goals/game ratio for England is decent, but what's he done to deserve a place for the Euro's?? 10 goals for Stoke this season is a poor return considering he's their main man up top. Carroll has potential, Crouch doesn't. He's passed it.. He's the most overrated player for England bar Downing, I don't get what people see in him.

It would have been good to see Sturridge playing at the Euro's.

The rest aren't bad at all.

If the main goal for England is to succeed at these Euros, I would've taken Crouch. If Germany play England, I would be more afraid of Crouch than Carroll.

Looking ahead to the future, Carroll is the better choice. This will give him international tournament experience, which will come in handy if/when England actually have to count on him in the future.
