Defaults are almost entirely caused by certain players not systems or number of players in a clan or who is best at what .

There are just too many players in clans who just can't be bothered to get the game done or just don't make enough effort.Simple!!
Some players should not bother joining clans as some and you know who you are join then just make zero effort to play...it makes you wonder why do they volunteer their services in the first place.
I know some players get cajoled into it by constant harassment (have you met fatmikee lol on pool).
Captains should boot out players who fail to message or make an effort as it happens..and at least one captain who will remain nameless should get his own house in order and get his games played.
Don't push players into it either ..they will let you down.And if interest in the game is waning then pull out of your clan.

I get asked quite a bit to join pool clans but I usually say no as I did try it once or twice, but pool is just so tedious and I became unreliable as a consequence.Granted that makes me as bad as some on here but at least I am honest now.
On snooker I don't think I have ever had a default.

Its a bit of fun so just play your games and get it done.You don't have to live on the site..just arrange it with a few options and message early.
Captains your job is too harry and chase your players ..ask them if they have arranged.If they cba to reply to you..that tells you a lot.

Wild notion here but hear me out

Lots of clans are struggling right now with players who are really busy with other things or simply lack of them.
I know theres usually only a couple of weeks between seasons but maybe this time its worth giving a month or 2 break.
Possibly run a small 5 a side competition or something instead while people who need to take a break can and then in a couple of months regroup and start again when more people will have less on in their lives.
Alternatively you're looking at a confirmed 3 teams for next season with 2 or 3 looking like they are struggling

That would kill the site even more.

Like ive always said the problem here on snooker isnt that there arent many players who cant do clans. But the problem is that everyone wants a team which can win the league, and thats the reason why average players never get asked to join a clan. Also the number of people who want the captain role over here is less compared to pool.

I agree with eri, there are enough players, they're just overly picky about where they go if they're half decent, and captains are overly picky about who they have if they're just average. So now some of us can't get a complete team.

Yup thats why Seb says no to some players as he wants a balanced league with a close league for everyone.

Unfortunately always going to be a weaker team as the strong grows.

Most ambitions are to join a team like FSE, Dollars, Total Dom i don't think it will change anytime soon but would be nice for the larger teams to say no once in a while and that guy is happier just joining a smaller team.

During my time i have won countless titles on both sites, missing Golden Cue (which i wouldn't win), Individuals League, Grand Slam Cup on Pool too so titles mean less to me now although it still feels like an achievement.

Only thing i'm interested in clan wise is to maintain our record of not being out of the top three

I didn't actually go anywhere I was just sick of someone constantly making new names to message me so I had a couple of days peace and quiet while I've had stuff going on in life. But thank you very much, it's nice to be missed

well I have found that not to be true right now
We were a successful team last season and even so I currently have a team of 4 for next season. The half decent players are all taken and any others are unproven with reliability and even they are scarce. And those who only have the drive to play when there is the chance of success have no interest as there appears to me one clan significantly stronger than the others after signing the best players from a folding clan rather than trying to keep hold of their own. You're saying you can't get a complete team as a "smaller" team, but frankly the "bigger" teams are struggling just as much

Probably because the 'bigger' teams are more determined to only sign overly decent players and nothing else will do. Before the start of last season you even said yourself you were only signing top class players, well that's a mentality that most 'bigger' teams have, so why wouldn't they sign the best players from folding clans, it's a given, as the 'best' only want to play within 'the best'.
You were wanting to join CoD along with legend_pot but when nerdz and Adam didn't form a clan of their own you decided to try and hold onto DD for another season, Isn't that just another example?

Is this another dig at us because you still haven't got over us winning the league yet or the fact that we signed angers best players after they folded before you even got chance? While you mention about trying to keep hold of there own players, how are you getting on with that, easy isn't it?

If we hadn't of signed players from anger you would of tried sign them yourself, so I'm not sure why you've come out with such a pathetic dig

When I believed adam and james etc were making their own clan that left me with 3 players, therefore i would have been unable to continue running the clan. once they decided against it I tried to keep another clan running rather than folding, however this seems to have failed. the decision was to try and keep as many clans going as possible. Also last season I aimed to sign top class players so the league wasn't a complete walkover and if it weren't for reliability issues it would have been a great scrap.

The fact is at the end of last season I had 5 reliable players, whereas assassins had a full clan, I have essentially held onto all my reliable players while looking for more whereas you had 9 reliable players and lost 2 in order to sign 3 more.
Also you were actually their second choice. They only joined you after richie's computer broke and he believed he wouldn't be able to run a clan anymore.
Also assassins were my first clan so pleased to see them succeed, albeit with possibly just one of the original members left in the clan. I'd just rather see a competitive league with as many teams as possible.

Way I see it is with the players that are left (outside of D&C, assassins and FSD) we can just about make one more clan between us but no idea how or if it will happen

The fact that you had unreliable players is a captains fault! Lets take borini as an example, he wasnt interested in playing clans this season and u still had him in the team only cause hes a class player. Instead you could have signed an average player but reliable. So dont blame your players for not being reliable, as u knew it from the start.

As for being a 2nd choice i dont mind it, you cant have everything in life But the good thing is that we are not in the bottom of that ranking

Fsd survived on average players from day 1 all the top players players have stayed clear from us witch is fine and a year later we are still going! ino weve had lots of defaults with people saying they will play then just dont ive had 3-4 players this season do that to me lol
as a league theres not much u can do to get new players on a dieing sight it used to be busy as heck on here now can see a tumble weed roll through the place i hope clans can be saved from folding or help new clans get off the ground and stay running its hard when ur new

What you need are some loyal players who have stuck by you along time, in D&C (not sure as we are a large team now) but we have been running for several years and lots of members has stuck with us. Just need to be lucky and try and recruit those.



Bottom line is hopefully you will sign someone who is as loyal as these guys and you should last a long time, Maybe as long as us one day.

Yeaa it helps losing 2 core players this season hurt us but i feel we git 2 more core players fsd going to out run the great d&c

You don't half chat some bull joey, you were top of the league for most of the season. If it wasn't a great scrap we would of won it easily and you wouldn't of stood any chance at all but that wasn't the case, when players leave is it not normal to replace them?

It's obvious we were 2nd choice in dvz, imran, and fran joining us as they would of stayed with anger had they not folded, also If you check angers thread the reason they folded was nothing to do with richies computer breaking.

I think we all want a competitive league with as many teams as possible but It's impossible to have more teams than last season with how dead the site is, hopefully you and vix can get a team together or clans are really not going to be worth playing in on here.

If the teams stay the same size then you are always going to suffer getting all the games played. There just isnt the players for 6 teams with 14 in them. However, during the season if FPD had the choice of playing a couple of players twice then we probably wouldnt have had a default. If the rules could be slackened off for the bottom two or three teams it would help a lot. We all know who the top three are so the bottom three are not going to trouble them. Even if FPD played their best player twice it wouldnt guarantee 2 wins against Clifton, game 26, sam147 ect. Just meant the game got played.Even if the rules appled to the bigger teams and they didnt take the mickey then it would help them too.

Yeah, it's not looking too great right now. I see 4 active clans at the moment, and I'm sure a fifth could be formed from the remainders of the folded teams. However, that does not make for much of a league.
The snooker site consistently has more online players, but way fewer clan players. Also, games do not get completed at the same rate.
I am very open toward any ideas for making the league more attractive. Im at a bit of a loss at the moment though. The trend has been pointing in this direction for the last two seasons, with more and more defaults and games all being played on the last day. That indicates people are just not online very often and only want to play when they are forced to by the deadline. Not sure about what to do.

Agree with seb on his points there are far more people on here compared to pool yet our league is minute compared to pools.I did read somethin earlier which was quite interesting and it was something along the lines of promoting the forums for the newbies and introducing them to clans. Of course it all depends on how many snooker players are not in a clan and just play casually but hazarding a guess id say there are a few!
