Agreed - at least this year I can justify my somewhat divided loyalties because of Ross Brawn

Ron Dennis left Mclaren F1 now, leaving Martin Whitmarsh in charge. What you think Buddytobud?

Trying to get a healthy thread running

Well, it has got to leave a huge hole in the McLaren moral, especially with the disciplinary hearing looming.
No disrespect to Martin but I don't feel he has got the experience to carry McLaren through this difficult time.
Because of recent events, for instance, Lewis's commitment to the team has had a bit of a question mark over it and this could be the nail in the coffin (Ron being like a second father to him for so long).

It was eventually on the cards, to be fair, with Ron stepping down as Team Principle in March but I fully expected him to complete the season.

If I were the cynical sort , I might think that this is a damage limitation exercise - given the bad relationship between Max, Bernie and Ron, perhaps the removal of Ron from the equation might mean a more favourable decision coming McLaren's way.

All in all though, my initial impression is that this is a bad day for Mclaren.

Certainly was Si (both qualifier and race) - excellent driving by Vettel in very difficult conditions and well deserved one-two for Red Bull.

As for Alonso ... not really - the qualifiying performance was really down to doing Q3 almost on fumes (as the fuel adjusted grid positions demonstrated).

It was right what Ross said after the race that it says a lot when people are somewhat disappointed by Brawn GP only getting 3rd and 4th which are still very good solid results.

Indeed. Was nice to see red bull get their first win.....and a one-two. Impressive driving from Vettel, well on his way to becoming something special in my opinion.
A bit gutted that Ferrari and Massa aren't doing well at all though! Raikkonen is starting to look useless, just wish Massa had better reliability in his Ferrari
That being said, it's still nice to see other teams doing well this year such as brawn, red bull and toyota. Makes a nice change i suppose

Shaping up to be an exciting championship. Bahrain next is it? Can't wait

Oh yeah, noticed how every race has been won by the pole sitter this season so far?

What an amazing performance by Jenson to grab pole for the Grand Prix tomorrow. I can't wait to see what the fuel adjusted positions are in order to determine how good it was, but from the reactions of him, Rubens and Ross, I suspect it was pretty special

F1 Mole on BBC F1 Website said:

... the Spanish GP fuel-corrected grid, with estimated first pit-stop laps, looks like this:

1 Vettel - lap 16
2 Button +0.059 seconds - lap 14
3 Massa +0.151 - lap 17
4 Barrichello +0.172 - lap 15
5 Webber +0.389 - lap 16
6 Trulli +0.454 - lap 16
7 Glock +0.762 - lap 14
8 Alonso +0.959 - lap 13
9 Rosberg +1.321 - lap 23
10 Kubica +1.728 - lap 19

That suggests it could be a really close race on Sunday - with Vettel, Button, Felipe Massa and Rubens Barrichello all very evenly matched, and Mark Webber potentially in the mix as well.

Well not getting any better for Ferrari *tut tut tut smiley*

That must be the first Spanish GP that I have really enjoyed for very l..o..n..g time.

Congratulations Jenson, Rubens and Mark (superb recovery from Alonso's overtake) and unlucky Rubens (again) and Sebastian. The sun is definitely shining for Brawn GP in general and Jenson in particular - keep it up guys

Here's hoping Massa runs into some luck, and Raikkonen runs home leaving a fat juicy space open for a new Ferrari driver next season!

Was an ok race in my opinion. Nothing spectacular other than the Webber-Alonso move at turn one! That i enjoyed. As always with this season, nice to see what Button can do with a quick car. Also nice to see Webber doing well

Yeah but one spectacular move is one more than all the rest put together lol.

I think Eddie Jordon was right when he indicated that Kimi needs a huge kick up the (__x__)

I only hope it doesn't open the door for Alonso*
(Sorry to any Alonso fans - I know he is a very good driver - just not my cup of tea and not a team player IMO)

True, it was a VERY nice move. Although not quite the same, it reminded me of the Mansell 'double dummy' move on pique many moons ago! And as for Kimi, he is ridiculously lazy and really gets on my nerves. It seems, now he has his championship he doesn't seem bothered to carry on. I suppose that's what a massive paycheck can do to some people. . .
Alonso, personally, i don't mind him and would happily see him in a red wagon. So long as he plays ball with Massa. Can't see either of those two playing second fiddle to the other so can't see it happening to be honest. Worse case scenario for me would be Hamilton at Ferrari (not sorry to hamilton fans - not keen on the guy at all, plus im just not as polite as buddytobud! )

My ideal would probably be either of the Red Bull drivers at Ferrari when Raikkonen does decide to jack it in but again, i can't see many good drivers currently on the grid playing driver No 2

Yep, either Vettel or Webber (always rated Webber) would be ideal

As for Lewis joining Ferrari - can't ever see that happening - I think Ron would have ingrained into him from a very early age that they are 'the enemy' lol

As an aside, I wonder if Michael is playing the same trick as Ross did when he moved to Honda - sitting back and observing, noting where improvements need to be made and then stepping in to take control to put things right?
