also i know its totally irrelevant but normally a cup has a 2 week deadline and this cup has 1 week deadline.

at the moment it seems the captains involved (except Globe who hasnt posted yet) is in favour of the short extension.

I disagree because if the deadline is extended then it defeats the whole entire object of having a deadline in the first place.

Its not a guidline, its a deadline. If failed to complete your games then you are held accountable.

There are very few cases where people have a genuine excuse to of not finished there games.

I look at these ones and players have not tried their best.

mich + kili is playing now so will be shortly over the deadline anyway until they finish

i agree with you cuey but in the cases of lots of defaults an extension might not be such a bad idea (especially since it would take me several hours to write them all by hand).

last fixture we had 14 defaults and over half was from 1 team alone.

I agree deadlines are there for a reason.
However, it doesn't help anyone - players, clans, runners, and the default team - to leave a bunch of games to defaults.
If there was another fixture coming up immediately, I would not even have posted this here. With the free week, I figured it would make sense to extend the deadline.

Assuming mich and kili get their game played, it will be

1 default in the D&C vs FSE fixture (probably will decide the fixture)
4 defaults in the GP vs Allstarz fixture (score 11-4 GP)

Both sets would therefore be decided by defaults.

Will leave this discussion open until tomorrow night at least, so all captains and vices get a chance to comment.
Ultimately, we'll leave it up to majority.

I think the deadlines should stay as they are, If people aint playing their games thats not everyone elses problem, If they can't be bothered to come online to play then when they know they have them then tough.

i think people outside captain/vices should count too or it isn't a discussion thread really

2 week per set of fixtures sounds good to me, not as if its gunna set anything back is it.better to see games get played rather than mess about with defaults.

Again, I totally agree with derry and you that deadlines should not be broken.
I think we have a special circumstance here, in that we have a free week after this without any games. If it was any other way, all the games would go to default.
In this specific case, defaults help no one. If the fixtures can be decided on the table (without giving a disadvantage to anyone), I think they should.

Every effort should be made not to let any cup games be decided by defaults. You have to consider the role of the default team, and the fact that in a very close default situation it would be very hard to be completely neutral. Not just for the clans concerned, but for other clans where their decision could decide who their clan gets in the final.

If there was a completely fair way to do defaults maybe there would be an argument for it. But there isn't one as its done by humans. Especially at the moment as the activity logs are down so most of the defaults are complete guesswork anyway.

Oh and defaults team should get a vote too .

I had 2 days to play my game, was online for 12 hours the first day and no sign of my opponent, second day messaged him and got no reply, I tried all I could.

Last night I was in the pub about 10:45 and got a text message asking if I could get online as a sub had been made, so I baically rushed home to get in from the pub to play my game.



If my game doesn't stand now due to all the effort I put in I will be very very upset with that decision. <<< Nicest way I could put it without getting a smacked backside off Adam.
