The lag is against the rules.

The break off shot isn't.

The break of shot is only a disadvantage to people who don't know it, it's not against the rules.

I use the fancy lag and yes, it's not fair and people are getting frustrated about it but for now it's still allowed and until it gets sorted it's going to be played..

This reminds me a lot of the old "golden break" shot which was discovered by a user on pool a while back.

Basically it was an easy to repeat shot that meant about 95% of the time whomever got to break, won the game.

Obviously, it wasn't breaking the rules either, but the principle is the same (as I understand it) and it was clear something had to change.

Now, that doesn't make anyone right or wrong, but if we can make the online game closer to real rules whilst also creating a more realistic opening shot scenario, all whithin the technical constraints of an online version, then we should.

(For info in case any newbies don't know - In pool and snooker this was done by randomising the rack very slightly each time, so no two breaks are the same, obviously thats not an option here!)

Want a tissue? It's a legal lag at the moment, so no need to call anyone a cheater when it's well within the rules at the moment!

Call me a cheater too for breaking on original snooker and landing everyone snookered behind green. It's well within the rules on this site...

Landing behind the green is also within the rules of the game of snooker though, whereas this lag (apparently) isn't within the rules of the game of carom, so there's a difference.

If we can leave the opinion some people have that it is cheating to the side, would the majority be in favour of mirroring the real game rules if possible?

I'm sure the top players would soon perfect "normal" lag shots too, but if the rules reflect real life as accurately as the format allows, this kind of frustration is eliminated.

there is no skill in the lag they beeen doing. aim and smash it and they land perfect!

My point was that "landing everyone snookered behind green" is different as that is both within the rules of the game and the rules on this site, whereas the lag shot is only within the rules on this site, so they are completely different examples.

I have never said that the lag shot is cheating.





The good thing about the "normal" lag shot though is that is pretty much impossible to perfect, especially not in the same way the "other" lag shot is.

Deliberate fouls is "cheating" as many people say, but well within the rights of the game. Same applies for anything. If it doesn't break the rules its not cheating, it's just taking advantage which is very different.

Its such a blatent issue that needs changing...maybe the admin need to actually play the game and see this to undertand what the whole thing is about.

You may hit foot cushion once...and not the side cushions....

this shot hits 7/8 cushions (every cushion) and lands on the cushion..and is unbeatable 90% of the time!

Is just no fun!!!
