Thats why it isnt a penalty. Plus he had the advantage... the shot.
If thats not advantage I dont no what is. You cant say... if you score from the shot then it stands, if you miss the shot its a penalty. Lol.
There are loads of silly rules in football... Remember Rooney wasn't disciplined for his full on elbow on the player because they couldnt take further action as the ref awarded a freekick.
He then was eligable to play against Chelsea and scored the first goal...

I don't think the ball was out of play. Ashley Cole's foot came flying in a split second after he got the shot off. Just looked another replay, I think it's in play.
edit: Not sure now, on MOTD it looks just out. the referees certainly thought it was out.

The advantage rule there is debatable, since the shot actually occurred before the foul (we all agree on that right?). So when the foul occurs, the shot has already happened, so it has no relevance. Therefore, I would say there is no advantage and it's a penalty (assuming the ball was still in play of course).
But clearly the shot comes before the foul so it's not part of any advantage.

So if the balls out of play, and a player punches someone in the face in the box, it wouldn't be a penalty?
Yeah thats right apparently

It wasnt a penalty because when the foul was made the ball was out of play. Apparently this means that no penalty or free kick can be given. I thought it was a penalty as well tbh until i heard this rule

Well thats another reason why there should be goal line technology and replays

Hey, with goal line technology, England would've won 0 World Cups
Bitter? Slightly.
Bitter? Slightly.
20:39 Tue 20 Sep 11 (BST) [Link] Having just watched MOTD again, I disagree even more.
Crossbar by Nani, a missed penalty (even if it wasn't a penalty- and there was some contact- , it was a great follow-up chance missed by Nani), post by Rooney, follow up by Hernandez, sitter from Berbatov.
That's more than you would create in an entire game against Chelsea of years past.

Chelsea actually deserved to win and created the better chances. I say win because apart from the goals which on another day wouldnt exist, they created very little.

No suprise there then. MOTD is the most manc obsessive football shows about. Almost beating Sky Sports News. (Which should be named Football News really)
Suprising considering the panel is made up of Ex Liverpool, Geordie and Arsenal players, and anchored by an EX Everton/Liecster player, not to mention Colin Murray on MOTD2 is a Liverpool fan.
Must be the producers then! The set is in London, so makes sense they would be mancs
Sums it up for me

Mike ^^ thats just plain cack really, you know your talking complete crap.. The reason they say United are the best is because, well lets face it who in England is better?
They are liverpool legends on the panel but what have liverpool done the last 5-6 years? Absolutely nothing.. whereas united have basically controlled The Prem.
Its an Unbiased show so if it wasn't they'd be kissing liverpool badges all the way through, but they cant so why talk about Liverpool when United are setting the league alight this year?
Also about Adam and Skrtel.. wasn't it only the start of the season you were praising them loyalties change with results aye
On M_woods post about Forest HAH! Jeff used to play for the same team as me, quality goal for him and well deserved for all the hard work hes put in since signing, weird seeing him on Fifa and tv tho!
And about the United, Chelsea game. Chelsea did deserve something out of the game but then again so did United. The difference was that United took the chances that fell for them and Chelsea didnt. Thats why United deserved the win even tho Chelsea did play very well.

I don't want them to talk about Liverpool Nicko. It would be a fairly depressing hour and half for me if they did.
But if MOTD spent as much time on the other 19 teams who play in the premier league as they do talking about United, we would be still sitting here now watching Norwich V Bolton!
Everton get the worst treatment, they are on last every week! 2 minutes of highlights, Alan Hansen will then say (every week without fail this by the way) "Moyes is doing a good job on a small budget" and then credits roll!
Funny when I watch it with my bitter mate, who waits all day to see these "highlights" because he goes mental at the tele, but I can see why it annoys him!

^ Manc fans were chanting Istambul before. In retaliation Leeds fans were signing "Always look on the runway for ice". Both as bad as each other!
Nicko, MOTD stands for Match of the Day. So they should spent the majority on the match of the day! Yet 9/10 times we get to see United beat teams like Bolton at home 3-0 in a game where Bolton park the bus, and United try and score.
Not complaining about Sunday because it was the best match, and to be fair they did show Arsenal V Blackburn first on Saturday, but only cos United hadn't played!
I bet when I watch the Carling Cup Show on ITV tomorrow they show United V Leeds first. Yet Forest V Newcastle looks far more entertaining.
