We won the group with a few less than impressive perfomances along the way. We are miles behind the top international sides, and to be honest come the tournament proper we'll probably scrape through our group (providing there are no 'groups of death') and get outclassed in the knockout rounds. Silly when you see the players we have to choose from.

I don't like the guy at all.
But his club record is amazing, i think he has scored 29 goals from 70 odd games for england (yes he has never done well at a big tournament).
I just think he feels he has to carry the whole nation and team on his shoulders, that be why he gets frustrated,sleeps with hookers etc. Just needs to let of a bit of steam every now and then.

This site is full of daft scousers who probably think Carrol is better than rooney, Or lucas is best midfeilder in premier league because he starts in a poor brazilian team. And Reina has the best hair in the premier league. But Rooney is best english footbalerl in the world today so calling him a Rtard is a bit over the top.

1. Not one scouser has said Carroll is better than Rooney, we might have faith in our players but were not deluded.

2. Nor have any of us said Lucas is the best midfielder in the prem I think we have yet another Liverpool hater on out hands here, bit like mr wood we don't have to post to get you to slate us.

3. If you think Rooney had the hopes of our nation on his shoulders you're silly, it is a TEAM game and we have great players they just don't gel together very well.

4. If you think that justifies him sleeping with hookers or kicking out at opposition players like a spoilt brat you are more of an idiot than Rooney is.

Lucas isn't the best midfielder. He is the best holding midfielder. David Silva, Nasri, Gerrard, Nani, Young, and many many more are better midfielders than him however other than the constantly injured Essien, Lucas is the best holding midfielder.

I support my local team Brentford! Yep they are crap, But i would rather be able to go to games than MOTD and Sky been my only way to get into it. I also had a good day out at Wembley last year with brentford although they lost.

I have been to liverpool games at Anfeild and they atmosphere is electric in there, I like liverpool, But some of the comments on here are just so so biased towards liverpool it is ridiculous.

But in the 70's and 80's we relied on Bryan Robson, even when he was injured all the time, Same with Kevin Keegan.

We relied on Beckham when he was injured in 2002, And same with Rooney in 2006. It does not take a fool to work out he is best player in the team and a lot of pressure is on.

I just hope Wilshire and gerrard are fit and avaidable for 2012 championships.

I live in Liverpool and have had a season ticket since I was 5 years old, 22 in a couple of months too. So make that 17 years.

2good is from Warrington (I believe), not sure how good your British geography is but that is directly between Manchester and Liverpool and chose to support Liverpool. Not sure if he goes to the games, also not sure on the wherabouts of Alex (virt_slayer) but I support my local team also.

I would go as far as saying Rooney is the best Striker in the England team, but what you have to agree with is when he pulls and England shirt on he doesn't do much in quite a lot of the games.

Gerrard, Lampard and Terry are possibly the most ifluencial players we have had in the past 5 years or so. But they are losing it now and we got to accept we had our great chance with a fantastic team and our most influencial players are gonna be leaving soon.

England have had the problem recently of underestimating opponents, and not gelling together as good as they could.

I will always support England as they are my home country, but I know LOADS of people where I live who don't and they actually hate them now. Most supporting Spain... Glory hunters.

I'm from Kent but I have a fan card and go to around 10-12 games a season mostly away but I go to a couple of home matches a season. In Kent there are basically no teams I don't like Gillingham because their fans are awful but i go to a lot of Charlton games one every month at least.

People can't tell me that waking up at 5am to go to London (1hour), all the way through the underground (1-2 hours at best) and have a three hour train trip from London to Liverpool to get there in time for the early kick-off is being a glory hunter or a bad fan.

Live in Dovecot which is in Liverpool, and Huyton is literally on the edge of Liverpool and knowsley anyway...

Just to add, half of Huyton is actually classed as Liverpool, just depends which half you are on about.

28 in 72 is mediocre to be honest. I'm not saying he's terrible, but I think England put a bit too much hope in him... he's good for his club side, but hasn't been there for England. I don't think this red card and probable suspension will hurt England much.
