I'm from Kent but I have a fan card and go to around 10-12 games a season mostly away but I go to a couple of home matches a season. In Kent there are basically no teams I don't like Gillingham because their fans are awful but i go to a lot of Charlton games one every month at least.

People can't tell me that waking up at 5am to go to London (1hour), all the way through the underground (1-2 hours at best) and have a three hour train trip from London to Liverpool to get there in time for the early kick-off is being a glory hunter or a bad fan.

What about people who say United fans are glory hunters? I live in Dublin, so i get a plane over to manchester for the home games i can get tickets for, even get the boat and still come back home for my own football match the next day

Haha!

Nicko, theres about 20% of Man United fans that are actually from Manchester so most are glory hunters for sure.

Yeah, thats because United are a worldwide phenomenon. Obviously the rest of the world is bigger than Manchester so obviously with a club of United's size there going to have a bigger fanbase in the rest of the world...

Most fans in Manchester support the reds. Who do you follow btw?

Gas how most people call United fans glory hunters and all the liverpool fans i know are in there late 20's-30's.. Dating back to when liverpool won many trophies, ironic that.

I follow United because they run in my family, My dad started following United when he was only 9 or something which was when he started watching football, he said he started as soon as he watched them in the FA Cup final loss to Southampton, some glory hunter, since then hes been going over to every match he can. Went to Russia for the Champions League final. Yeah Definitely Glory Hunters!

And how often do you do that? Once per season?

I do have now 30 years a season ticket. Brought to the club by dad when i was at the age of four and since my 5th birtday i was 100% addicted. From 20-30th i lived down south (mainly for work), travelled 350 miles for a home game...no problems at all. If i have to choose between my wife and footballclub....i reallly would a tough choice.....Introducing my kids now to the club....if your kids dont like it....just push it a little bit more....

In all fairness you should support your local team!

If your from Liverpool you get a choice of 2
Same as manchester same as in Stoke

Why would you want to be from Stoke and support some scum 40+ miles away I don't get it

All people want is to be able support a team that is better than their locals that's all

Some people I can understand your Dads a united fan your grandad was a united fan your brothers are United fans it's always on the cards that you will be aswell and when your raised around 1 team whether it's Man City Man United Liverpool Chelsea you are always going support them

But what's actually nice which I don't see often, people who don't live in their teams province but still making the effort to try and go each week well all know there are more people who support United/Liverpool who have no intrest in actually going watch the team play than they got turning up each week

That's why I like my not so little anymore club, I was there years ago when we couldn't win anything I was there when we were losing to Port Vale lost 8-0 to Liverpool at half time about half the fans left and I stayed till the very cold bitter end of the evening!

I love my team, I love football it's a game of passion it's a game of faith

Not really.

You can do it if you want, but if you want to support Manchester if your from Ireland fair play. If you want to support Gillingham from Liverpool fair play.

At the end of the day it is down to the individual, being a Stoke fan from Stoke doesn't make you any better than being a Liverpool fan from China. (Well maybe inside your own head it does, I dunno...) but it isn't down to you to say who we should and should not support, and to think otherwise is ignorrant tbh.

Interesting people who think that, because if you were born in merseyside, Si, you wouldn't support Stoke. Some fan eh... ? :\

As long as you nail your coulours to the mast, and stick to that team through thick and thin, you'll do for me! No matter where you're from.

If you read the whole post though I did say people support teams for different reasons and aslong as they make an effort to go then fair play to them

And in all fairness if I was from the Mersey then my dad proberbly would of being from there also, which makes the fact his grandad would of took him watch Liverpool/Everton then his dad would of continued to take him then I would of being born and my Grandad/Dad would of taken me

I love Stoke, the reason i'm a Stoke fan is proberbly the same for alot of big suporters I being going since I was a kid I learnt to love the game and I feel in love with the Red and White

Also never have I thought 'I'm a united fan or a Liverpool fan or a Chelsea fan' It's always being Stoke and it will continue to stay the same

My first team was Swindon Town when Glen Hoddle was player Manager and they got promoted to the Premier League thanks to the WONDER Craig Maskell whos in my top 5 players of all time as Swindon were on tele on Sundays, as was Stoke and the Midlands teams presented by Jimmy Greaves, i think Stokes main guy was Mark Stein and Regis Si hehe! And for Wolves Steve Bull!

But then I started getting into Notts Forest n started going to see them! Fave player Ian Woan..

So, if anyone is interested.....

Who are your top 5 players of all time
And whats the first game you ever went to??

M_Wood

First game : Notts County 3-3 Charlton! Quality Game!!!

Top 5 players...
Craig Maskell of Swindon
Ian Woan of Forest
Zidane IMO Best player ever
David Ginola
Hmm dont have a 5th lol
