This is an update to my original message - Before you read this let me just say I normally only play "original", where these new changes do have a significant and in my opinion negative impact on the game.
I'm sure these changes "will" ruin the confidence of new players as well as those who play more often.
That said, I must be honest I've had some OK breaks with the new changes, however, I just played a one off game on arcade, where I rarely play and it made no difference, the game seemed to play as it always does.
Maybe these changes just have a negative impact on the big table Anyway, here is what I wrote earlier...
This is the first time I've ever felt the need to appear on the forum, everything to now has been perfection, okay, the odd change here and there, but other than that no call to winge moan or groan.
After several years I ABSOLUTELY love this game and whoever controls it, deserves a medal - No, a whole heap of medals, wonderful, marvellous, great game.
But these new changes... These really new changes are spoiling it for me and it seems for many others as well. Yes, I'm sure people will get used to the changes or stop playing but why try to impove on something so darned nigh on perfect.
Nah, new changes - Not for me - sorry.

But what is wrong in trying to make it perfect? You seem to be advocating that Nick should now move away from perfection by taking a retrograde step in order to satisfy a few that feel hard done by because they had got used to the old faults. The game is still the same (aim for the hole between the cushions) only now you will get consistent results between each of the corner pockets and it is easier to pot in the middle pockets (on original).

Perfection is subjective, and a realistic sim of snooker isn't what most of us are here for.
Most of us are here to have some fun, and you, I believe, are a premium member, so really you could have just bought a snooker simulator, which would have been long-term cheaper and probably more accurate for this 'perfection' you're after.
This game is better thought of as fun, rather than an accurate snooker sim.
That being said, the animated pockets were quite amusing the first three times, which does make it a better change than the weird new balls...
I reiterate from a previous thread that the light on snooker balls comes from directly overhead

Least some good came of the updates then!
In all seriousness, the only problem i have with the update is the top middle on original seems to be much bigger than the bottom middle, maybe it's just my eyes. Nice update though!

As i said earlier, i'd love to see the rules improved free ball, touching ball and also the crosshair on ghost ball to be eliminated

shouldnt gameplay be perfected before visuals are
ball in hand is missing from powersnooker
over on POOL you have a uk table only 2 year olds should play on and your worried about the balls falling in the pokets a little more correctly
people will say dont mention pool over here but guess what over here we are playing with a POOL cues snooker cues dont have tips like that

17:45 Mon 17 Jan 11 (GMT) [Link] No. It can be done simultaneously
That is true.
Regarding the pool changes, you should go suggest them over on the pool site.

I've been on this since 2005, does anyone remember screwback then?? It was hilarious, slightest tap would send the cue ball flying back down the table... changed a lot for the better since then!
Saying that, I have come down from 840 to below 800 since the updates, think i'm just unlucky.

Hmmm.
Seriously though, I think people are complaining about the pocket geometry (which is gameplay) rather than the animation which is a completely separate and distinct change,
(Edit: typo)

In reference to this... I can agree that this could happen... but there's a simple solution to that... If you have forgotten whether you're yellow or white ball... Just click anywhere on the table and the cue lines up behind the ball you're playing. Takes less than a second to do and a simple solution
-------------
Also, as I said before, it makes this game look and feel so much more realistic!! Which I guess is Nick's idea!! I love this new update and "to the average player" Like myself... I find it no different than before ! The only time it stops you from scoring is when a 2nd ball is going in and it doesn't. I love this !

Hi Nick
In Carom - can you have next to the players name the colour of ball they have for that game - in 9 ball you have the colour of ball up there so I guess it is an easy fix. I only ask as I'm learning the game and would just like to see the colour I'm playing next to my name and likewise for opponent. Before the balls come to rest I'm thinking about my next shot and bizarrely I forget if I'm yellow or white sometimes! I'm sure I'm not the only one......!!

im getting used to it now, still a lot of bread and butter shots, but i seem to be playing better, missing a lot of pots down the side cushion still.
20:50 Mon 17 Jan 11 (GMT) [Link]
Why cant I pot from the Cushion? Whats going on there has game play changed or something if the ball is slighty off I can pot it fine if its tight I got no chance

Looks great, nice one Nick
Come on all, even if you dont like part of the upgrade then at least make the response sounds positive, any negative comments are just not fair to Nick.
Imagine if you spent weeks/Months doing something for some passer bye to comment 'it looks crap' Remember unless you are a premier member this site is FREE
Anyway even after all the negative comments you all come back

Just a thought, but in snooker the balls don't actually go under the table like they do in Pool. Looks a bit odd on a snooker table. Is there any animation that could look as if the go through the pocket and into the things that kind of dangle to the side of the pocket? (if you get what i mean)
