How do you know that it doesn't happen just as frequently, if not more so on other gaming sites? A lot of gaming sites don't have a discussion forum for people to talk about issues like this, so they can go unnoticed when there are lots of members.

There isn't a way of completely preventing servers going offline every now and then, but the best way would be to buy a good dedicated Linux server. (I'm not sure what kind of server Nick is currently using).

I'm fairly sure that the current server isn't the problem though. It can cope with the game play and the amount of members online, so there's no need to upgrade in my opinion.

I did a quick WhoIs search and it looks as though Nick's using FastHosts.co.uk which I've heard are quite good.

You might be right. I'm only saying from my own (fairly limited) experience playing anything on other sites, I've never seen a large amount of users crash at the same time. This includes other pool sites as well as chessbase.
But if there's nothing that can be done, I'm fine with that. Maybe nick could explain his take on things when he's around.

The 3 Dqs were all logged out at the same time as was Trickdee. Myself and Timpark were not logged out.

I dont think its a coinsidance that all 3 people happened to have internet problems at the exact same time do you?

seems to be a problem for round 1 of a tournament.

It does that in every arcade tourny 1st round always the right hand side aswell.. check history of arcade tournys its on every one of them.

When people have joined a tournament and then logged out of the game window for one reason or another then they are automatically DQ'd.

This will explain some if not most of the DQ's, especially in what Davey is pointing out in the arcade tournaments. The automatic DQ's go to the top of the list, it is the same with every tournament, on here and pool.

If someone gets DQ'd due to taking to long in a game or to accept an invite, then their game stays where it was in the list on the tournament games list but still has a DQ next to it...

If that makes sense... doesn't explain why the people are getting logged out but I think people were forgetting about those DQ's aswell.

from what pool said people didn't get invites either in theirs.

i have some log out problems but after searching forums and not just here ive found that most off the time its the fault of your sevice providers fault it happens most when your service provider has the most of their users logging on at the same time for example
say its 10 at night here and loads of ppl get home from work ets then they all log in the server provider gets a lag and causes certain sites to not respond

Its not, and it wouldn;t be if 300, 3000 or 30,000 people got logged off at the same time (thoretically of course)

This has been covered many, many times and the answer is still the same, it is all down to the infrastructure betwen players, nodes, ISP's and the server. Sometimes connections can be re-routed quickly, sometimes not. Hence why many services (like chat services) appear to stay connected.

innit. my interent's been fine quite a few times when i've been logged out. sometimes costing me precious points lol. lost 22 points in last 2 days. 1 was a dq to tourney tho lol, thought i had another tourney frame to wait for, i go out the room for a few mins and there goes 14 points

it is something to do with funky. cos i can load webpages up. but try loading a funky page and u have to wait ages. also once when i got disconnected when not my internets fault it said conncetion failing it logged me out at around 30 / 90 connection failing lol. yesterday i was playing someone too and their first random shot was 2/3 and 2nd one he got booted lol. seems funky is deteriorating :(

As said before it is not funky, it is your service provider having problems linking up with certain sites.

At that given time there are many sites that you would be logged out of or would not be able to load up. However funky doesn't seem to be in the same group of sites (possibly down to the host) as most well known sites as they all work.

All evidence points towards Funky being the cause because that is the only site going down for you where in actual fact there are millions of sites out there and a few others being logged off at the same time.

That is what I gather from Spinner, damien and Jack, not that I know all this but please read carefully before ignoring everything and blaming the site.

Buy a decent router, free ones are crap!

Its an absolutle **** take,
I can search train times in a flash, chat on facebook chat, load up other websites, But i can't get a ghost ball cursor on a red in 20 seconds resulting in lots of slow punishment peneltys, Every time i join a game i click yes to play but have to wait about 40 seconds for it to be started resulting in slow punishment penelties missing by chance to do a break etc. But while all this is going on i am searching the web in a flash no trouble at all.

Some people are not having this problem, But i just want to know if there is anything can be done to make me be able to click play and just play a normal game without freezing, lagging.

Firstly, swearing is against the forum rules, I'd suggest editing your post before admin do it for you.

Do the usual stuff, update java, try different web browser. All sorts you can try. Lag comes down to your machine so check everything you can possibly think of.

I have tried different browsers, Will try all java and any more suggestions later. Thanks.
