Just 1 questions and 1 question only... why does the server go down because in that 'instance' it is not an individual thing.

BTW. When playing this. I am connected directly to my modem, and I do not have any chat messenger, youtube, downloading things.... nothing.

No probs whocares, at least you know it's nothing to do with funky now anyway as spinner has told you and others many times lol, or the same would be happening to everyone else as well.

Two sets of logic here:
1. No other users getting kicked off, so it must be me.
2. No other websites kicking me off, so it must be funky.

spinners explanation made sense, although I hope when he comes back online, he can answer my last questions.

After his useful posts in our conversation, your late entry saying "it must be something on your end" just contributed nothing at all

Ah okay sorry about that, it just seems that you find it very hard to understand that it's nothing to do with funky, I'm sure spinner will have more fun trying to explain that again when he comes back online.

No, I understood it right away:

I didn't say the server went down. I tried to highlight that when I said that I was the only one getting logged out.

Read!

This was my latest question:

See, I think that's where I struggle to understand. One site (yahoo games for example) uses hundreds of connections so I don't get kicked off, where another site only uses one connection so I do get kicked off?
Is that just explained by funky being a smaller site?

As I tried to post this, my one connection with funky failed again

Ahh, okay so you have finally understood, it did take some time i have to admit!

Can you explain tho spinner why i never ever get disconnected unless it's a server problem, is my connection that good?

lol so can we agree that you've contributed nothing new to the conversation other than trying to antagonize me?

I think spinner and I agree that it happens due to my connection with funky. He explained it in his posts with the 100 connections when streaming (so I don't notice when I get knocked off) vs the 1 connection to funky (where I do notice).
My question is, why does yahoo pool (for example) have something in place so that I don't get kicked off, while funky doesn't? Is it because the site is just smaller?
My point is- why can't funky do whatever other sites do that make me not notice when I get kicked off?

Because its nothing to do with Funkypool, its the way the internet is designed and works.

The above post is a perfect example.

So the internet is designed in such a way that funky kicks people off, yet some other sites don't (at least when I play other sites)?

Conspiracy!!!

The major sites have many many many links to you, funky has one as far as I'm aware (due to costs I presume)

Yeah, I was trying to get to that- it's the way the internet works, but on the other hand, it's also a cost factor.

No. The other sites do as well, its just that you don't notice. An nobody is kicking anybody off, your're just losing connection with each other.

Lets try another approach..

The internet got called the web because thats how its connected, like a web. Very similar to a road network.

Now, say you're driving from Glasgow to London to play a game, and unexpectedly, you find the route you chose is blocked for some reason. However, there are millions of ways to get to london so very quickly you will be able to re-route and get on another road that will take you to London with plenty of time to fit in your game.

However, if you are driving to a smaller place like Wick, finding another route (connection) would take you much longer and you would miss your chance..

Yes, I think I understood it before that as well. So it's not funky's fault, because the web is designed this way and errors occur.

But it is funky's fault that it is the size of Wick, meaning I will notice when there's a roadblock. That has to do with cost, I'm assuming and that's perfectly understandable.

The thing that sets people off is the characterization that it seems to be our router that makes the problem occur. Rather, it's a mixture of the nature of the internet and the small size of funky.

Nothing at all to do with cost.

Wick is the size it is because of the number of people there. Likewise the road network grows depending on the number of people using it. Exactly the same with websites and web traffic.

The road doesn't grow by itself, you know. SOmeone has to build it!
But you're saying that yahoo games uses the same strength/size server (whatever you call it) as funky and the only reason you don't get kicked out there is because they have more users?

Yes, but the road only gets built if the demand is there.

And no, I'm saying exactly the opposite! Yahoo is a massive player in the world of the internet.

Just imagine for a second how many people will connect to yahoo compared to funkypool. Its obvious which will have the most traffic and greater number of alternative connections.

Most importantly, once again, nobody is kicking anybody "off" - a connection is being lost, thats all.

Really, this is all going in circles as the simple explanation is to remember the web is exactly that, a web. Made up of nodes and connections all trying to transfer data packets as efficiently as possible. Connections drop and reconnect all the time be they due to faults, maintenance, weather, or anything else that could interrupt the flow of data at any point along any route.
