And so it begins. the first reported racist incident has already taken place a full day before Euro 12 even starts.

The Netherlands held an open training session at Krakow, Poland's Stadion Miejski attending by 25,000 spectators on Thursday and "several hundred" people reportedly targeted the team's black players with monkey chants

The players, on the instructions of the captain, Mark van Bommel, responded by moving their training drills to the other side of the ground. "It is a real disgrace especially after getting back from Auschwitz (the Dutch squad had visited the concentration camp on Wednesday) that you are confronted with this," Van Bommel said. "We will take it up with Uefa and if it happens at a match we will talk to the referee and ask him to take us off the field."

The problems occurred as the players began the session by jogging a lap of the pitch only to be greeted at one end of the stadium with monkey noises and loud jeers. On the second circuit, they were even louder and it was then the players decided not to go around again. "At least now we know what we can encounter," the Holland coach, Bert van Marwijk, said with heavy cynicism. "Very atmospheric."

It looks like UEFA could be in for a month-long lesson in how ignoring a major problem doesn't make it go away.

EURO 2012

BEGINS

NOW

Poland Vs Greece! Stadium looks very impressive actually!!

Should enjoy this Tournament and the games as next time the Euros come around it will be 24 teams where there will be 6 groups, top 2 qualify PLUS 4 teams who finish 3rd.... doubt we'd get the France England, Germany Holland type fixtures next Euros!

Are BBC cutting back? They are in a normal studio, not actually there!?!?!?

Well that was a surprisingly good first day to the tournament wasnt it!! What a banging start, cracking couple of days

Szcheney was terrible, fault for both the goals. Dont think anybody expected Greece to get back in it when they were 1-0 down and a man down. The red card was unbelieveable!!! They were barely even fouls haha still, a solid start for both teams

Russia obviously blitzed away the Czechs even though the Czechs started better and dear o dear the Czeck left Back Number 3 was shocking! He was sooo out of postion for all 4 goals, so much space on the right for Russia, they need to drop that boy!
But Russia do look good, they could be a surprise package in the Quarter Final, dont think it will be a walkover now if they play like that.. Arshavin looks a good player, he might look good in the Premier League haha sign him up Arsene!!

I also liked ITV that they are actually there, rather than the BBC studio... and who'd a thought they would ever see Paddy Viera and Roy Keane sitting next to eachother and Paddy saying 'we are mates' hahahahahaa!!!!!

Russia's striker ( can't remember his name, began with a k I think ) was terrible in the 2nd half. Missed about 6 brilliant chances I think.

Alexander Kherzakov? Didn't watch the Russia game watched Wire blitz Leeds instead.

Russia are a decent side though, good thing for them is a lot of them play together for Zenit too.

Definitely a threat.

Ref was terrible in that first game. Neither yellow was even a foul! Terrible.

Looking forard to tomorrow. Holland V Denmark and Portugal V Germany.
