once curt, i potted white with 8 points to me, 8-7 = 1. and i still won, i know your suppose to win but it should be respotted.

How did you come up with that one? if your 8 in front and foul on black then your still 1 in front, take this scenario; 50-58 up before you foul, you foul resulting in your opponent getting 7 points. score is 58-57 you win. no re-spot needed.

it shouldnt have been respotted because you had no need to pot the black in the first place. in real life you could have simply sat back down in your chair and waited for the referee to re-rack the reds for the next frame.

or as is commonly seen, put your cue against the cushion and walk off backstage for a bathroom break.

If the score is 43-30 with just the black left and the guy on 43 fouls, that would make the scores 43-37 and end the frame.......no re-spot.

firstly, if he was 43-30 behind (13 points) before the guy went in off, then sam had lost. the game was over. the black was irrelevant to the final outcome. those are the official rules

secondly, there is only a 50% chance sam would have had the oppurtunity to pot the black as it is a random choice of who gets first shot on the re-spot.

True.

Sam was 6 points behind.
If the black WAS respotted he would have potted it and won.
How can that be an 'official' rule of the game?
Is that really how it works? If it is then its stupid.

I really don't know how to make this much simpler for you to understand, and I have perfectly good English.

Sam was 13 points behind when the chap fouled on the black, ending the game with Sam being 6 points behind.

Dec, I think what little_paws means is that without this rule in place the black would have been respotted as part of the frame (not to decide it) as it would have been 37-43, and it would have been Sam's turn, so he could have potted it leaving him 44-43 up and winning the frame.
